2008 Rat (Wu Zhi) New Year |
![]() |
The Chinese New Year begins on the 7th February 2008 and end’s on January 2009. This year brings us the first of the Chinese Zodiac animals, The Rat.
This year will bring with it change, a fresh start, time to ring out the old and bring in the new. If their is a new job on the horizon, this year would be a good time to take it. This may not be the ideal time for making a quick buck, but for those of us who, (and sadly this dosen’t include me) are patient and willing to work hard, the Year of the Rat promises to give you the start you need to secure a fruitful future. Some of you, no doubt, will be glad to hear that if you are getting married this year or indeed planning to pop the question, the Rat year would be a great time to do it. Rat’s are big fan’s of family and of home and thus they look kindly on people who have or are planning a family. So, this also bodes well if you are expecting a little Earth Rat of your own this year!!
Baby Rat’s
I am lucky enough to have a Rat child of my own, so I have some insight as to how these lovely creatures work. As baby’s they are very loving to all family members, although they are not perhaps the most cuddly of signs, the Rat will love your attention and time. Remember these creatures are very quick minded and they learn super fast. Reading to your child from a very early age will be enjoyed immensely and it won’t be long before your little Rat will be chattering away trying to read along with you. Talking of chattering, the Rat child will love to gurgle, speak, chatter and generally make noises a lot! I also recommend taking your home loving Rat out on trips as soon as you can if you are planning to spend time away from home a lot, as these babes will love their own home and their own bed especially, so it’s best to get them used to leaving it as soon as possible. Saying that, they are nosey little devil’s and will be very well behaved when they are taken out as they will be amused greatly by their surroundings and will be taking in every detail. Amber my 11 year old Rat child always amazes me with her vast knowledge on..well, everything! She devours books and listens very carefully to anything that may be on the television, this does lead of-course to a tendency of temporary deafness to much else going on around her, including anything said by ME!! which I have to say is very annoying. Being a Horse myself I have not a lot in common with a Rat, and I think at times, we do find it ever so hard to understand one another. But knowing this is the answer. She and I enjoy are “alone” time together and she makes some of the best company you could wish for.
All in all this year proves to be a good one for everyone. As long as the effort is put in the Rat will be sure to reward you in some way. The Rat will always be shining on your family so this year things should go very smoothly at home, spend as much time as you can with them, if too much time is spent away from your family the Rat will soon show you who is boss. Work is very important but so are the people that we do it for, without them it will all seem far less worthwhile.
Myself and my family wish you all a very Happy New Year. May health and happiness be by your side.

My little man is coming 9 months old and he is an absolute doll. Such a quick leaner and hes always making us laugh. He is also an Aries so I have quite the combination on my hands. I myself am a dragon so we get along wonderfully.
