Ophiuchus - The 13th Sign of the Zodiac |

I would just like to say that what I have written below is based on research for those interested in the 13th sign NOT on my own beliefs. I remain a firm believer in the 12 sign zodiac but will carry on my research. To those of you who are heavily religious - please do not use my site to put down those of us who don’t share in your beliefs, this is after all an astrological website so please respect that. Also any comments abusing any person and/or their beliefs will not be approved. The 13th sign of the zodiac, unlike the other 12 signs is actually associated with a real person. In the 27th Century BCE in Ancient Egypt lived a man known as Imhotep. Imhotep was known as ‘Aesclepius’ by the Ancient Greeks, however the attributes are the same under either name.
One of Imhoteps abilities was healing and it is said that it was he who introduced it to mankind. His accomplishments also included a wide knowledge of medicine. The serpent or snake symbol which is still used today to symbolize the medical profession was also used to represent Imhotep. Below is a list of attributes associated with the Serpent Holder, Imhotep i.e Aesclepius. The descriptions below are associated with the 13th sign - Ophiuchus.
- Many people are envious of this subject as he progresses well throughout life.
- A seeker of wisdom and knowledge
- Many people are jealous of this person
- Tends to go for the more flamboyant in dress sense, favouring bright colours.
- Authority looks upon him well.
- Would make a great architect or builder.
- Number 12 is this persons lucky number.
- This person will have a big family but leave home at an early age.
This is the Zodiac as some astrologers believe it should be: ARIES = APRIL 19 - MAY 13 TAURUS = MAY 14 - JUNE 19 GEMINI = JUNE 20 - JULY 20 CANCER = JULY 21 - AUG 9 LEO = AUGUST 10 - SEPTEMBER 15 VIRGO = SEPTEMBER 16 - OCTOBER 30 LIBRA = OCTOBER 31 - NOVEMBER 22 SCORPIO = NOVEMBER 23 - NOVEMBER 29 OPHIUCHUS = NOVEMBER 30 - DECEMBER 17 SAGITTARIUS = DECEMBER 18 - JANUARY 18 CAPRICORN = JANUARY 19 - FEBRUARY 15 AQUARIUS = FEBRUARY 16 - MARCH 11 PISCES = MARCH 12 - APRIL 18 I’m not sure myself about the qualities of that of Ophiucus, but perhaps if you mix Scorpio with Sagittarius you may come up with something along the right lines. Hello Lynn, On the cusp means that you were born at the changing of two signs. The 13th sign is what some people believe should be included to the zodiac.

I thought I was a scorpio sag cusp, but after reading this I am wondering that maybe I am a libra? My riseing sign is libra so this could count for the libra streak, I definately know is there, but I still find it frustating that I still don’t know for sure what my sun sign is! Although i am pretty sure it is scorpio. Libra, scopio, sag., somewhere in there. lol. Anyways i lov this site. Lots of funny and interesting things to read. And thanks fo the update on Ophichus!!!

OMG!!! my whole life i thought i was an aries but the aries description NEVER fit me and i always ended up confused!!! It says aries are always bossy and determined and stuff well i am a very caring shy person and i never fight wih ppl 4 fun like it is said that aries do. I was born on April 12, 1992. When I found out that I was an Aries, I didn’t think it was true and I started having doubts about my sun sign. I stumbled onto a web page that said I am actually a Pisces. I started to believe that. Though one day when I asked my algebra teacher from my freshman year what her birthday was, she said that she was born on April 19. I told her about the 3rd Decanate of Aries and she said that she isn’t gentle and that she is a true Aries. I am actually a Pisces and I’m glad that I found that out. Thank you!

Hi there are some attributes that define each astrological signs and you really don’t need to know the exact dates just from that. Like the Capricorn is wise and solid which are very strong personality traits. A Sagitarrius is cheerful and brave. Sometimes you can just feel it and see it in the person. Animals also correspond and so do insects. We also always forget that there are twelve astrological years presented by the Chinese which are very powerful too. Together those really give us the philosophical outlines of personalities. I think this sign the snake handler or Ophiuchus runs alongside all of them and we have a chance to connect with it. I am not sure if it acually appears stronger at one time of the year. I think it is always present but few of us accept it.

I was born on 1st Dec -78 and as so I am not only a master sign of 11, but also the 13:th sign according to this. I have not always felt that everything that “should” comply with being a sag could be attributed to me and I’ve known about the 13:th sign for about 10 yrs but since there is almost no info about it I stuck to the sag description. All I can say is that people have since I was a child been jealous of me for different reasons, I have always been very creative and am about to learn how to be a gardner and hopefully I’ll design beautiful gardens in the future, I’ve always been a bit exentric when it comes to clothes and hair etc and I love knowledge. I have often said that my biggest hobby is to learn new things and to “collect knowledge”. So I suppose I’m very much a Serp.. Now I’ve also recently broken up a realtionship with a man of my own sign, 10th Dec -80 and fallen in love with a Cap apparently, 27th Jan -76. Wonder how this will pan out…?

I agree, this is inaccurate. I was born July 29th, 1982; and I fit the description of Leo COMPLETELY. There is not a thread of me that is even remotely adaptable to the Cancer mold. Perhaps I am just an old soul.

hello, i have a theory i would like to share which you will see is at first not directly related to the topic, but introduces new specualtion.
i believe that moon signs can be cusped. i was born at 6:11am, 8.11.70. i am one minute into sagitarius moon, but there is no denying that my moon can at times be so very scorpionic. there are other times i am totally on fire so to speak; not only is my sun leo so is my ascendant. triple fire or a little water at times, compounded with taurus midheaven.
so i wonder if anyone would agree with my old( as of today!) theory of cusping moon signs, has anyone ever written of them? or is it possible to consider that i am of an Ophiechus moon?
It was wonderful to have that epiphany; i am very aware of the chakras, of kundalini energy, and also am aware of my own claivoyance. I flet extremely … serpentarian when i thought of the corelation and how it could affect my chart personally. ( a big relief to still be a leo!!) - about how someone states no one would want to be serpentarian- i beg to differ- i feel and have felt at times that the attributes of the sign are within me, as dictated by the nature of a moon sign. the scorpionic tendencies i mentioned seem closer to the truth, and the “tottering” between philosophical sagitarius and sexual scorpio feels nicely balanced with this to contemplate. i suppose someone could say that the seesaw effect, which i have noticed very profoundly in the sun sign cusps i know, could have been the swaying of the sign as we come closer to it for 12.21.12.
ironically, i have started a very successful business and i have said to myself several times’ ” i know what i am doing until 2012.”
I also wonder if there are attributes for Ophiechus’ influence on the body? I wouldn’t be surprized if you said the eyes; seems to have alot of enrgy associated with the eyes for some reason.
i will be happy to share the more complete moon sign cusping theory if anyone cares to see it…

I don’t know if you are against Libras or just overly excited about being a Scorpio but your capital lettered/exclamation filled comment is a little much. You don’t have to believe it (i don’t think i do) but do you need all the profanity and seemingly offensive comment about being a Libra and, quite frankly, your whining about your poor 6 day sign. If you don’t believe it (and you have made that evidently clear!) you don’t have to scream and swear online about it…really?? not cool, but yay for you for being a super Scorpio and VERY proud of it (apparently)

hey everyone, just be yourselves.
Maybe this is easier for me to digest than some. After all, I’m a Leo no matter how it is viewed. And now am much more aware of the insinuations of my Serpentarius moon… It seems you all forgot that the sun signs represent the outer projection of the native, and the moon represents the inner and emotional being.
I have been continuing to manifest abundance in my life at a much more accelerated rate than I was before this epiphany concerning the true nature of my natal chart.
I would like to suggest that the persons that fele that this affects them in a negative manner, essentially anyone that has been confronted with a such a drastic change in personal beief, I. E. their sun sign, to just meditate on it. Calmly, contemplate it. Open to the energy of the signs and the universe and ask yourself what would it be like to be this new sign? Not what you think of it; how does it make you FEEL?
I am an extremely clairvoyant person. My senses have felt out of sorts on many things over the years. As the 2012 convergence nears, I feel much more stable on an energy level.
I have to tell you, this 13th sign acceptance feels RIGHT.

An interesting Serpentarius theory- The Gregorian calandar had christian holidays included to cover and obscure pagan holidays.
Is it possible that christmas landing in capricorn, the goat, ( the sign associated with satanism, sorry if youre one and didnt know!)was an attempt to associate christmas landing in this sign to help people forget about the pagan associations with capricorn?
Serpentarius inclusion also strengthens the theory that christ was born in Pisces; with pisces even later into spring, it makes sense that shepards were out sheparding andsaw a star…
sorry to point this out, shepards don’t wander in december, even i nthe mideast. it’s cold in the night during december even in a desert. this theory has been bouncing around since 1990…
And before anyone calls me a heretic or anti-christian, I’ll admit I was a skeptic until 1993 or so when it was reported that a jospeh and mary’s sepulchre had been found in jerusalem and was carbon dated to A.D. 44… I do believe in the hard scientific data that there was indeed a historical figure, a man named jesus that did in fact live…
it’s not chrisitianity i have a problem with, it’s a wonderful belief system. But men like Gregorius tried to use it to hide a glorious truth from us… I’m glad we’re coming back to the truth of the universe.

Thank you for your insight and comments. As for the Christian side of things? Well, for me I am far more in tune with Paganism as that is where it started afterall, Christianity in my opinion is nothing more than a money making machine. However I always respect others views as I am not a single minded person in anyway.
I actually am not a believer of the 13th sign, although I have a problem with the word ‘believe’ in any case. It simply does not feel right to me, it feels as though it is not meant to be part of the zodiac as we know it. I think it’s a personal opinion, just like everythin else in this world, we have to go with what we ‘feel’ is right.

Am i correct in assuming these dates are fluid? that they are always changing? In 2050 for example… Someone born in May would no longer b born under taurus… but another sign altogether?

I find this a little difficult to buy. It could just be that for years I had a little trouble with ‘who’ ‘what’ I am/was, and while I think this is something everyone goes through at some point in their life, when I checked out my (supposed) sun sign or Aquarius and (supposed) rising sign of Libra, a lot of things kinda fell into place. According to the chart above though, I am a capricorn and from my little knowledge on the subject (I would never profess to be anymore than a student) I have very little in common with the presumed characteristics of Capricorn. I have nothing specific against the sign, i just can’t find a similarity bewteen Capricorn and myself, whereas Aquarius was like the heavens opening and showing me my own face.
In sum though, I have been questioning whether astrology in its entirety can ever truly be taken on as a lifestyle. Interesting, yes, but I find it very difficult to believe it can all apply to so many different people, even full birth charts.
We cannot deny the moons influence, as we know it controls the tide, it would be arrogant to believe we are therefore not effected by it. As for the rest, although I’d love there to be a connection between ourselves and all the planets, there just simply isn’t enough sufficient investigation to come to an accurate decision about their influence.
My gut says yes, but my head says keep questioning.

all i can say is wow! i was looking up my daughters cusp jan 19th…and i came across a site that mentiond this 13th sign, i was born december 3, 1980, i have always felt so inbetween the two signs of sagg and scorp so when i did my birth chart i found i had sun in sagg and moon in scorp…anyhow i have always had the ability to heal animals and have had some strange things happen with them(wild animals coming right up to me) and to read about this extra sign stunned me because it fits me so well…i feel like im not crazy now for thinking that i was a little of both worlds

WOW, the whole 13th sign and the chart is sooooooooo confuesing to me. It says I am Capricorn, but I do not act like one. I was born January 25th 1983 and my Chinese sign is the Dog which fits me to a T. I also feel very Aquarius, but sometimes I feel I share a little of some of the traits of an Aries man.
Yeah, I agree with Becky, I feel it doesn’t fit the Zodica chart nor does it feel right, it feels strange to me.

Very interesting. So in another way, I was born on the cusp of taurus/gemini and I went and read the characteristics of taurus. I have to admit that the similarities in my personality are closer to that of a taurus, then a gemini or cancer.

Was very much an Astrology buff, until I discovered, even through my search (although skeptical) Led me to search further Now I am less skeptical
because I am not a Leo, but a Cancer according to modern dating. ^_^
That left me more satisfied. Many people I know had a shock. I love this new sign,and yes Science accurately confirms it ‘Astronomically’ from their proper perspective.
I hope more can be done to create charts and conjunctions, most peoples’ natal charts are most likely inaccurate for today. Hopefully somebody can take the time to correct this.Thanks.

The picture at the very top. that image actually does not represent Ophiuchus. that image is a image of commerce. the proper image of medicine is a single rod with a single serpent wrapping its self around it. that is the proper symbol of medicine and the symbol that represents Ophiuchus.

I was born July 23, 1960 and always thought about the “cusp” not really knowing what that meant. When reading my horoscopes, i would find that Cancer most always applied to what my day or whatever was going on. Being born on that date always led me to believe I was a Leo and this horoscope thing was silly since it never made sense. I was born before midnight so couldn’t possibly be a Cancer. Ironically, my brother and I were born 9 years apart, him being born just after midnight July 24th 1951. In discovering this “13th Sign” theory, I think maybe there is something to this zodiac after all. I won’t read Leo horoscopes anymore.

I have to say that I really appreciate Joe’s knowledge, wisdom & clairvoyance.
I found out i fit into this bracket a year and a bit ago, and it has openned my eye’s then to a possiblity. I am more invigorated now taking time out to actually look up the information myself as when I found out it was brought to my attention from a true friend of mine of which there has been few in my life.
I AM IN THE WOW STAGE ALSO… i will say that through my life it has not been rosey.. which explains the Jealousy.. I have always had an interest in the softer things in life and have been on a quest with in myself to gather knowledge. Where I sit now I am in a stage of self healing and trying to fine tune myself. I know realize all the downs of my life had led me to be who I am today and more importantly who i WILL be. I have very unique personal theries and I was please to see that there was an Egyption reference as my Intuition or clairvoyance is telling me it “feels” right. I read information about reiki a while back regarding tbe origination of that ability and the description of what the founder discussed sounded right to me, and I have been blessed with being given Fine Tunings by a past lover and now best friend. I have also had experiences where people are drawn to me and also animals. Bizaare things have happend to me also from just remaining open and operating from the distinction “every thing is the truth” its freeing in a way, or at least it put a stop to the Little Voice in my head I call my brain, or survival calculator.
In what I have read above the thing I would like to add - I think the fact that there is a definate truth in both there being a specific place for the 13th star sign and it running along all sides of the zodiac signs. We all feel things we can’t explain at one time or the other… but for me the common denominator is LOVE - when you let go of all the meanings u have of it and what manifests in your body when attached thoughts of the past come to the forfront of your mind, I at least became present to the feeling or sensation I was experience instead of all the other “garbage” that was in my head.

As for this 2012 thing I find this very interesting and I too put myself in the distinct catagory of student - but given recent events, readings and events in my life I am aware that all the wisdom of the universe is in me to access… I also believe that we all possess our special little gift. Its a matter of having the inner passion and what ever words or actions you would use to invoke the necessary state with in.

I’m so confused. I am 08/28/86 baby and have never felt like a virgo 100%; more like 60%. then someone mentioned that maybe i was a cusp. So i read up on leo, and the parts of me that never fit in virgo (i love being on stage, being in the lime-light, i’m bad with money, i have a quick and firey passion/temper) fit with leo. only every place i look at says my bday should be 100% virgo.
i’m eastern zodiac year of the Fire Tiger, and that fits me almost perfectly.

Well, my, my…I’ve come to love the Capricorn in meh…but according to this..my mums would be this ‘Ophiuchus’ (Dec. 5) and I’d take the role as the ‘Sagittarius’ (Jan 13) …now…how exactly does that work if i suit my Capricorn 100% =/. Sadly I’m so Capricorn its scary..I mean, I know not to change cause of something like this…but…what does it mean if I am a Sagittarius… My apologies on being a bit lost, i don’t do much with looking up this kind of info..

To Nick: I have to so disagree with you. Saying all Scorpios act the same is so wrong. I am Aquarius and I seem to clash with the sign Gemini, but I know not all Geminis act the same. Not all the Geminis on this site annoy me. Becky is a Gemini, I find her very cool, she is very open-minded, and I feel she has bit of Aquarius in her, maybe she got those traits from her husband. Because she seems to love her husband buches
I know I don’t act like all the Aquarius here, I am also very different from them. I know I some times feel I have bit of Aries in me. (And I can’t wait for the results of my consultion from Becky.)

I had a hard time accepting this at first. But after a week of assessing it. I find that I actually am a Pisces! At first I didn’t want to accept it. I liked being an Aries because that is what I knew. But I re-evaluated myself and found that I really am a Pisces. And also my friends who are Pisces are actually Aquariuses. I understand most people do not want to associate themselves with another sign, afterall we build our sign up to be the best in the zodiac.
As far as harry1ophi1 giving dates for before and after 1990, I don’t agree with your dates. The zodiac moves ONE DAY every 70 years. Whereas you have the calendar jumping ahead like 38 days (i.e., Aries), from 1989 to 1990, which would be inaccurate. So we need to find out when the next alignment change is, go back 70 years, and that will dictate who the dates would apply to.
I’m curious now as how this additional zodiac effects our Moon and Rising Sign. As far as I know they do not include Ophiuchus, and would need to in order to give an accurate reading.

I am born on the cusp of Aries & Taurus and because of Ophiuchus I am given the power to adapt the positive qualities of both taurus and aries. With this new power of Ophiuchus I and everyone else can become as SuperHumans if they are able to adapt to new heights. However, I do feel for those who cannot adapt… those are people who are not of the cusp. Those people are true to their sign. like Taurtarians Ararians,Gemgeminians, Cancancerians…, unlike Picarians,Taurarians,Gemtaurians,Cangeminians…. yes i do very much agree with you on your point and if your moon sign is between 2 and 28 degrees sagg it is in the Serpentarius/Ophichus constellation.
This 13th sign is also associated with ISIS the Egyptian goddess who protected the pharaoh. Ptlomey one of the Greek astronomers removed Ophiuchus because of its powerful association with the Egyptian female goddess, in an attempt to diminish the cult of Isis, perhaps for very sexist reasons! 13 is also quite a feminine and mystical number, remember there are actually 13 ‘lunar’ months in the year not twelve!

I am very surprised to read this alleged recent turn of events in astrology, it upturns the whole system and leaves everyone completely apart from where we had understood ourselves to be prior.
Personally it doesn’t seem right to me, I am not a professional astronomer or astrologer, but haven’t other ancient civilizations come to the conclusions of the dates for the tropical, 12-sign based zodiac?
So how many instances of civilizations have concluded the 12-sign zodiac versus the number of ones who take the 13-sign zodiac to be truth? I don’t know the answer to that but I would like to know.
I would also like to know, how many people have come along so far with any kind of major evidence that the 13-sign configuration is the right one?

I’m not trying to be closed minded or cynical, but the original 12-sign set up makes a lot more sense to me.
4 elements distributed among 3 signs each which is perfectly EQUAL and then almost every sign is given about 30 days each which is EQUAL, why shouldn’t they be equal? It would make more sense that all signs are equal and that there would be an even distribution among the population, although yes that is only a presumption
One major indicator, I think, is your own life and the way you express yourself. I am talking about the most BASIC form of energy that you radiate, yes of course taking your Moon and Rising signs into consideration
How about for those of you who are supposed to have a SINGLE element predominant in your major 3 configurations (Sun/Moon/Rising)?
If you have ALL fire signs for your Sun, Moon, and Rising according to the traditional 12-sign astrology, then the energy that you express should be CLEARLY a representation of that element
It’s not hard to discern this, I believe. I think that every element is extremely distinct in its behavior and representation.
Fire - ACTION
Air - INTELLECT
Water - EMOTIONS
Earth - PRACTICALITY
You can see it, you can feel it, it is almost tangible if you look for the element as they are being expressed by you.
Rather than try to figure out if you “act like a Leo” or “are a lot like a Cancer” or whatever it is
instead just try to focus on your energy and its direct relation to the element that it is supposed to be.
I am a Pisces by both systems, but the people I know
are all very much like the original 12-sign zoadiac description.
I don’t think that this “new” system describes them very well at all.
And also, yes I agree there are 13 moon cycles and that is important, but for the sake of being mathematically and pragmatically succinct, it would seem to me that adding a 13-th sign into the wheel is terribly inconvenient and throws off the whole harmony and simple balance of the regular distribution.
Again, I am not a professional astrologer or astronomer by any means
but I pay a great deal of attention to every person who is supposed to be a representation of water/fire/earth/air and cardinal/fixed/mutable and it always seems consistent with the original 12-sign system. But i am always open to hearing anyones opinion about anything relating to this.

There are 13 lunar months in a year of about around ~385 days, not 365 and this thing is clearly structured within a 365 day calendar. It also has intervals that can’t fit into any lunar calendar because they are fixed along those 365 days and this would never coincide with any of the full or new moon dates.
Personally it doesn’t make sense to me that he would try to abolish that sign based on sexism because it’s not the only feminine sign in the zodiac. All of the water signs, as well as Virgo and very feminine and he could have removed one of those in order to make it “less feminine” and even if 13 is a particularely feminine number, I don’t see how it could be so detrimental to keep it at “13″ no matter how many people understood that it was a number feminine in nature.
I’m not sexist by any means, it just make sense that this system is a balance of numbers and affiliations, a 13th sign throws everything off balance. What element is Ophiuchus supposed to be anyways?
I think Astrology is feminine either way, the water signs as well as Virgo (well, all the water and earth signs really) are expressions of the feminine, I personally don’t believe that could have been his motive.

I think that you prefer the balance and structure which is reflected with the 12 zodiac sun signs. Ophiuchus does however exist and is widely recognised so by astronomers, we can’tjust ignore it, it is on the ecliptic belt with the moon and sun etc; passing through it.
I am probably stating the obvious here butthe Zodiac signs are not stars themselves but constellations with many stars within. So just as pisces is a constellation on the ecliptic belt with sun, moon etc passing through it so too is Ophiuchus with sun & moon passing through it also. I am not suggesting dismantling the structure of 12. I am just saying that we can work within it, there are other constellations on the ecliptic belt Ophiuchus being one of them (there are others on the ecliptic belt too). There is scope to refine and fine tune things to get more accurate readings. Therefore if someone says their their moon sign is more Ophiuchus than Saggitarius they are merely fine-tuning things for a more accurate in depth chart. Blessings, Caryn

i was born nov.29th 1970 and ive always my whole life known when someone close to me is going to die.My closest friends know and understand this, it is a feeling of doom and the closer you are to me the more im sick and the more i feel like its me and im going to die.somtimes i get what i call sympathy pains i think there mine but truley there yours.my father told me he had the same gift,i dont think its a gift.i have 3 kids and 2 of my kids have this so called gift that realy freeked them out!they two had that feeling of doom and they to thought they would die.my kids are in ther twenties and i never mentioned or brought any of this up.its all about the sighns if you pay attention you will know its taken me years to figure it out,but if you just watch you will know.always pay close attention and you will see.

The people that are born under the one sign that would confuse me the most if this new system were to be valid would undoubtedly be: Aquarius.
Just as Reo is saying, everyone who now thinks they are an Aquarius would instead be a Capricorn, and those are very, very different signs. Everyone I know who is born under Aquarius far more resembles an Aquarius than a Capricorn. It’s not limited to just this sign, and as Reo is also saying:
What is the element of Ophiuchus anyways? My guess would also be earth, and if thats true (or any element for that matter)
then the system gives one extra element in contrast with the other three, and that is a major imbalance for the harmony of a system that is mathematically succinct.
I’m not about being closed-minded or avoiding evidence, it’s just going to take some serious hard data to convince me that this is the legitimate wheel of the zodiac. I am very interested in knowing more about this conviction for a new system.

I was born on december 17 1984, i know i’m ophiuchus,i know my brother is capricorn for sure but in the zodiac using 13 signs he is sagittarius,which is wrong.I know my brother and he’s a capricorn all the way.What i was thinking is that the normal zodiac that has 12 signs has the correct dates for the sun signs,i think that the in the zodiac using 13 signs has only the dates of ophiuchus sun sign fully correct,so what i was thinking that the normal 12 sign zodiac sun sign dates should be kept,just adding the dates for ophiuchus sun sign from the 13 sign zodiac,giving the normal zodiac the sun sign ophiuchus,and giving the normal zodiac the 13th sun sign and still be able to use the normal dates for the other sun signs which i think are correct in the normal 12 sign zodiac.I think that would be a proper zodiac to go by.Also,i think that ophiuchus should just be used as a sun sign,cause i’m not to sure how other planets having ophiuchus sign in them would be detailed in a chart.

i been reading about the signs for alongt time now…and i was born december 17th 1986. I was always some what confused with being a sagittarius because everything i read hardlyu ever matched up with my personality….so i started believing more in my chinese zodiac sign…which makes more sense….my best friend is a scorpio and according to this she is a libra…..she doesnt care about any of this and doesnt read about….but i belive she quite a scorpio woman but before you get all pressed about being a “scorpio” like mrs.ima fucking scorpio to tha fullest just know that you are most likely a heartless bitch lol…u prolly fucked alot of guys and broke thier heart and used people and manipulated and you arent very real and theres where all your bad karma comes into play sooooo dont think your stupid little scorpian sign is somethin too be soo proud of but as for the good scorpio’s that i do know…this only applys to bad scorpio’s. but if anyone does know anything about ophuichus’s traits then please write it on here…i like saggg but i just dont fit its criteria.

I just learned about Ophiuchus and find this all very interesting; largely because I am not emotionally invested in “being” a Sagittarian. Several astrologers over the years have told me that I am not a “typical” sag (born Nov27,1957) but could never really define why.
After reading on several websites about the “Real” zodiac, where the signs are based on the true size of the constellations rather than an arbitrary 1/12th of the year, I learn that I am supposed to be a Scorpio.
Ophiuchus caught my imagination because, during a period in my life while my personal quest was guided by the Native American cosmology, and a childhood spent on the family farm and consequent fascination with rattlesnakes, I had a rattler tatooed around my bicep. If Oph has any influence on my life, it’s interesting that I seem to have such an affinity for serpents. I AM the serpent-bearer.

According to the old zodiac I’m an Aries/Scorpio and that fits me perfectly. The 13th sign just throws everything out of balance. Maybe it should just effect all signs depending on how close they are to it, but still not actually qualify as a sign itself. You know, like a higher influence. Now with that said I really can’t help but brag a little. Aries are hands down the best :). Strong, Confident, Number 1 in everything we do. We’re simply amazing, like pure perfection. I mean really. who wouldn’t want to be an Aries? Haha, I love that I’m an aries and I love my Scorpio influence too. They’re both amazing signs. Though in my opinion I think that the only other sign that could even come close to the greatness of Aries is Cancer. They’re just such kind, caring, strong people. Hats off to Cancers.

I’m a “true” Leo, 8-19-1984, but I tend to be earthier than fire, I assume because my moon is in Taurus.
My Husband is Bipolar type 2 & was born on 12-15-1980. I wonder if it has anything to do with being a sign that isn’t commonly known here … I mean he’s has Scorpio & Sagittarian tendencies, but has never really fit either. He fits Ophiuchus 100% even the being part of a big family & leaving at an early age.
I’m not blaming I sign for a chemical imbalance, I just wonder how common it is for people with Ophiuchus to have that chemical imbalance.
Case & point, my grand mother’s birthday was December 13th & she was also Bipolar.

first off, I’m a gemini with a gemini rising and my gf is a pisces with a sagitarrius rising. Now I dont know what to believe. Whether im a gemini and shes an pisces, im a taurus and shes a aquarius, or that I’m an aries and shes a sagittarius. WTF! I can kinda imagine myself being a taurus and I can kinda imagine my gf being an aquarius, but she acts more of a pisces and I think I act like a gemini. I know its confusing.
Anyways, I’ve heard about the Tropic Zodiac and how thats messed up and about the Solar Zodiac and how that includes ophiuchus and how theres only 6 days for scorpio…

Hi everyone, I have been reading up on Ophiuchus and I have to say that I am quite intrigued. I dont know alot about any of this.I mean I know I am lined up as a Sagittarius. That’s about it. I know whenever I read my horoscopes they are usually pretty fun, there usually a little wrong but hey its a best guess. Anyways what I was wondering is, if there is a 12 sign zodiac and there is also 13 signs why hasn’t anyone made up a 13 sign zodiac chart?(If they havent already)Or why hasn’t someone formed characteristics about one who is Ophiuchus? You know like they have now for the 12 other traditional signs.
If we went by the 13 signs I would be Ophiuchus going by 12 I am Sagittarius.
I am not biased to either two. (But I must say my favorites numbers are 13 and 5 :)!)

Mona, Ophiuchus is an Ancient Greek constellation. The Serpent Bearer is one of the original Ptolemy constellations, appearing in Al Magest Star Catalogue [c 130 - 170 AD]. He also appears on the Farnese Globe, a Roman copy of a circa 2nd century BC depiction of Atlas holding the Celestial Sphere above his head. The sun does indeed pass through this sign and all the planets do as well, making it a legitimate 10th sign (I’m not sure why everyone calls it the 13th, that would be Aquarius). There’s not a 12 and 13 sign chart, there’s the original 13 sign chart and then one with the 10th sign (Ophiuchus) taken out. With the rise of Christianity with Constantine and the merging of traditions, things were changed around, including the calendar days and the astrological signs. 12 was easier to use to merge Astrology and Christianity (12 signs around 1 sun, 12 disciples around 1 son). Also the serpent went from being a healing totem or medicine sign to an evil deceitful devil because of the Bible depiction, so nobody could be born under a serpent sign, they’d be burned at the stake in those days. It was easier to just change the degrees to an equal 12 sign zodiac with the changes in history, even though the Ophiuchus is most definitely a sun sign in between Scorpio and Sagittarius, I hope that helped some?

Also, Adam R, it’s not some mystical magical life determining factor. The human is far more complex and hardly ruled by the position of the stars. There will be plenty of people who are nothing like the typical description of their sun signs, because for one, there’s more than just sun signs. Everyone has a moon sign, and different planets being in different houses change attributes a lot. Year of birth and changes in the solar system alter things, space is not consistent, our modern zodiacal positions have changed from ancient zodiacal positions, since the earth and other planets and stars are moving ever slightly in other directions. We know that galaxies in space are constantly moving further apart and expanding, this changes the zodiac by a few degrees every so many hundred years. Try to not be so confused, there’s more to your life than the stars you were born under, friend.

I would like to note that my rising sign being Ophiuchus I personlly have to say the following was true;#1. people are often jealous of me.. #2. Im truely a seeker of knowlege and wisdom.. #3. Ive been known to be rather flamboyant in my dress.. #4.I guess even though I get myself in trouble alot, the authorities usually go pretty easy on me if not hit on me.. #5.I love architecture and would love to grow a house.. More like a castle.. and last but not least I did come from a rather large family.. Im damn near related to everyone.. And I did leave home at a rather early age.. I kinda had no choice really.. And now Im rather estranged from my family and have become the outcast.. Their is alot of jealousy within my own family… The only part that wasnt so true was the bright colors thing.. Im not really into bright colors at all.. Unless its a beautiful sunset but not to wear.. I typically wear black cause for some reason I can see color in black.. I call it the dark rainbow..

I am DEC 14… After knowing my numerology numbers and Chinese sign and now this… I’m not buying this!! Saggitarius is the 9th sign!Numerolgy#9 ALSO saggitarius representing the 9th sign… The meaning of 9 will be simular to ophiuchus based on what they describe! I do not agree with the dates and what most of it says.. I’m know my self and all my major signs… and I can see why this is not accepted in astrology!! I was born in 07.08.97. The original Zodiac says I’m a Leo but I don’t act like one. I’m moody, sensitive, imaginitive, indecisive, like a Cancer.
I checked out the 13th sign thing and found out I’m actually a Cancer.
Then I remembered I was born after 1990, and re-checked. It says I’m a Gemini. Geminis are outgoing, life of the party. So NOT me.
The Vedic system says I’m a Cancer.

I read my first book about a 13th sign back in the early 1970’s. This caused a difference in the dates for the Sun signs. With or without the addition of Ophiuchus, there is a difference between the Tropical (based on seasons) and Sidereal (based on stars) dates.
The Spring Equinox now placed around 20 March, shifts backwards through the Zodiac a fraction of a degree every year due to the way the Earth rotates - approximately 1 degree every 72 yrs. Most tables that list the daily positions of planets, include the Synetic Vernal Point (SVP) - the current sidereal location of the Equinox, from which one can convert from one to the other. So I am not sure where the above commentator got the information about the dates before and after 1990. Even the conventional dates vary by 1 or 2 days, and must be checked for that year.
So with all this emphasis on accuracy, why not 13 signs? How is one to know what system is “Right” ? And if astronomers say the Sun stays in Scorpio only 7 days, what is one to believe?
We could think about it this way: All ancient cultures compiled detailed astronomical and environmental observations of all kinds. Divisions of the earth, sky, and time into 12, 8, or 360 degree segments, related to numerology, feng shui, and many other methods of creating harmonious relationships between one’s self and the world.
To this day, the Chinese, Indians and Arabs, use astrological systems that give equal importance
or more, to a person’s Moon Sign in 27 or 28 “stations”. Multiple planets in one sign, Lunar Nodes, Arabic Parts, asteroids and even Black Holes are used by some astrologers to collect information beyond one’s sun sign.
All these systems are tools to help us understand our world and our place in time. Knowledge of “the Wheel of the Year” was essential for crops, animal migrations, floods and weather patterns. Originally, “the Future” was more about understanding repeating cycles, than about “predicting” isolated events.

Why- because I have analyzed my humungous social group which is born before 1990 and many people born after and have watched their influences with my own eyes. Also most of you are wrong because you are not taking into account your Rising Sign(ascending sign) and your Moon Sign (true emotions) and your Chinese Year( your disposition) and your years secret sign ( your other ascending sign!) Then all the planets which I have done for all of my friends and many friends on my myspace because I am obsessed which is about 200 people, including new ones almost every month, and I have taken into account all of these things! and applied them to people before 1990 and after and to me and I have proved the charts wrong and know it to be true!Before my eyes, applied all these things you all may have forgotten these and I tested them and have seen them for myself on over 200 people! I can almost guarantee that if all of you who think the chart is true, that if we figure out these other things we may prove that what you thought was true already exists in you and is a big influence!
On another note, ***Ophiuchus*** -besides most of you not taking into consideration the rising sign, moon sign, year, etc… (which explains why you probably think the chart is true), you also have to take into notice that besides the charts
A. Most people who sense the ophicus might not have analaysed the rising sign, year, moon, etc… and possibly have incredibly amounts of pisces, cancer, or SCORPIO which are very deep and intuitive signs which posess great intuition and emotion. WHich would definitely be the mother nature healing signs.
B. THe OPHIUCHUS = NOVEMBER 30 - DECEMBER 17 so it falls away from the cusp of scorpio which is 21st to about 25th, so it is safe to say that ophicus runs on saggitarius only. So in theory everyone is still Saggittarius but MAY POSSESS THE OPHIUCUS!!!!! NOTICE how i have not ruled it out, soo many of you seem to sense it, maybe it’s biased opinion and you really want to be it, or maybe you have not checked your rising sign,moon, year, etc… or maybe you truly sense it and it is really apparant and evident in this dated time…..!
Also there are such things as Leo 1, Leo 2, Leo 3 Capricorn 1, Capricorn 2, Capricorn 3, etc… for all the signs, this may be a very special and unique saggitarius cointaing cancer or somethign or may make this saggitarius a bit different?!?! So we cannot rule it out unless we do all the influences on the people above and figure out what they possess inside already and see if that is what they are sensing and prove it wrong! We can really do it! Will Becky have the energy for that I don’t know?!?!?!

And besides what I just wrote above, if The sun is going through Ophiucus separately from Sagg and Scorpio then that is a whole unique sun sign and in my analyzing of all people born at that time they were all SAGGITTARIUS before my eyes and that is WITH rising sign, moon, year, etc…. EVEN MY DOG (dec. 2nd) acts SAGG. all the way, my black lab is a saggitarius, year of Pig(scorpio in western) Virgo Moon, and I don’t quite know his rising sign, but the sagg in him always wanteing to go explore somewhere new, and be overly enthusiastic even though he is now 13 years old is quite amazing to me so I DISSAGREE, OPHIUCUS IS NOT EVIDENT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I AGREE WITH YOU RYAN! i’m cusp Pisces/Aquarius born 20 feb. Rising Gemini, Moon in Libra, Venus in Aquarius and i’m really glad that this Ophiuchus doesn’t interfere in my life (i think), because these signs in my chart represents me in a whole thing, that nobody could ever know about me, still it’s possible that Ophiuchus can actually interfere as a co-sign, maybe some sort of Rising sign.

Ophiuchus might be exist for two reasons.
Firstly, I found out that someppl who was born under Ophiuchus ( If it exist ) are really attractive….. I means that there is a strange attraction between us.
Secondly, some Zodiac book devide scorpion into three type-which is totally different from each other. Therefore they might be not Scorp at all…..

hmm i dont quite agree with this. and honestly the differences between sidereal and tropical are just so overwhelmingly confusing. in any matter im born on the 19th. some say im an aquarius, others a pisces—a pisces cusp? my birth chart on two different programs says im a sun sign pisces with taurus rising and my moon in scorpio. this fits me perfectly. i am definitely a pisces so i follow the tropical horoscope!

Tyler…..this reason why most are ripping on Capricorns is because they are most generally the most inhumane of all the signs. Generally….Capricorns do not recognize the destructive path left behind them in their pursuit of their pride. Capricorns are disconnected in self recognition like Sagges are. Where you vary from a Sag is…. where your motivation comes from. Capricorns are mercurial. They believe that if they care of themselves then they have done their part. Caps generally do this because they generally do not recognize that they are a part of the total whether they like the total or not. Generally you are Mercurial not Uranian. You don’t notice it though. Capricorns cross some many line of respect throughout their lives. It’s almost like others and these lines were never there. Some one always has to clean up the Cap wreckage. Remember to apply that soft and aesthetic root in you to your perceptions of others. Try to see others as older siblings. This WILL help sometimes. Think about how you would have the world be. Write a list of the characteristics you would have in say…..Heaven. Then try working for those things. Why??? Because only ever working for what is on the table will not get you the things you actually want and need. Your root Philosophies are not selfish but others thing they are because of the way you go about things. Capricorns are Mercurial. Where as most of the others strive for whole. I personally like you Caps. But all of you need some sort of regulation or need to be accompanied by a friend when dealing with others cause….oh God….. cleaning up after you and explaining you to others is like a full time job. Hi, I was born Dec 1st and saw that I was a Serp. I do medium work as well, so I decided to consult my guides and angels as to the real dates. I was told that the serp overlaps the Sag sign and does not affect the other signs. So all of you who thought you were one sign and now another, rest assure that your signs remain the same.

The 13th Sign seems to represent every great person appeared in history. 13 is the number of change and love. I think it does exisit (the 13th sign). I believe that it is a sun sign that overlaps sag and scorpio. It doesn’t throw off the astrological calendar but occurs something like a leap-year would be, and some catch it when the phases are just right. Anyone agree or am I the stand-out weirdo on a sag/ophiuchus cusp? being december 18th (Sag) and a gemini moon..who knows but it almost seems legitimate, anything is possible…

This is closer to what is actually seen in the sky. If you take a star chart and go outside you can easily solve this whole debate right up. Check out some astronomy websites. I know, they’re mean old bullies and their clubhouse has a “no astrologers” sign on it. Western Astrology has used very old charts and the sky has kept moving. Are you into Astrology or Chartrology? Astrology would imply using the actual stars for guides.If you go for that make an effort to find out where they really are. Astrologers used not to care so much for personal psychology. That type of astrology has only developed fairly recently 2- 300 years.

Joe, great instincts. If you look in the sky the moon can go in many other constellations that are not even thought of as part of the zodiac. Zodiac is defined by the sun, but the other planets can wander from 5 degree north or south (venus) to 17 degrees north or south of the ecliptic ( pluto) Pluto spends lots of time in Cetus the whale. You can’t find this on Astrodienst because we go by outmoded greek charts. The greeks, like 7music, were very horrified by the thought of a non-symetrical heaven. Scorpio just doesn’t cross the ecliptic except in a small part. You can’t really tell this by the naked eye. It may feel like it but you are not being picked on. I love you.

All over the internet you will find Ophiuchus being referred to as the 13th sign of the zodiac. This is incorrect because Scorpio, which precedes it is traditionally the 8th sign. Therefore Ophiuchus is the 9th. If, however, we were to begin our count from Pisces instead of Aries, it would be the 10th. The argument for this is based on the fact that the Sun is in the constellation of the Fishes (pisces) at the spring equinox, which is considered to be the beginning of the astrological year.
The reason Ophiuchus is being called the 13th sign is simply due to ignorance. It is a “new” sign in the minds of the uneducated masses – “a 13th sign” added on to the end of the previously known zodiac of 12.

Hi all. I’ve only just become aware of the slight (NOT!) tilt in our perception of our horoscopes.
Question: we would all be really out of whack wouldn’t we? I have very little understanding of how the wheel of the zodiac turns but for how long has this been going on? How many years in front are we? So are you telling me I’m actually NOT 36 years old?? Woo hooo! Gotta love that! Lol
Seriously: there are 365 days in a solar year; this has been known for thousands of years. I’ll be looking into this a whole lot more to ivestigate the correct calculations!
Being born on the 22nd of may 1973 (numerologists go your hardest! pretty powerful out come hey? you should see what comes up when my time of birth is in the equation) I grew up being told I am a Gemini on the cusp of Taurus. Strange combo… very conflicting!
Over the years my undying search for the numerous ways to understand myself and my own spiritual and human nature I came across numerology, more horoscopes, cusps, rising sign, moon sign, and the list goes on. BUT: only recently have I become aware of Ophiechus. It’s in my mind that OMG! We ARE out of whack. Yes I know some of you have jumped up and down yelling from the roof tops that you are the sign you were born under through and through I heard you two blocks away… BUT contemplate this: I was born in the year of the ox, but born on the 22nd of May. Gemini yes? I put it to you that I am in fact: a water oxen influenced by Gemini.
Most of the time I spent trying to understand me to become the best daughter, sister, mother, aunt, cousin, friend I could be. During this time I found that I did sway to the tune of what I was told and what I read. I believed “them” because they were bigger, older, and meaner and they instilled in me a sense tat they were in fact my superior and there for knew more than I. Hence through a repeated barrage of unproven information (proven to me that is) I became a Gemini.
I was told and I read countless times of how mercurial I was, how fickle, how communicative, how my facial bone structure is reflective of the Gemini woman. So hence I became a true product of my environment. It is so very difficult for one to see and get past this concept. We are all in so many ways a product of our environment. (In both positive and negative ways). I found and I am still finding when I started to break away from this influential Norm I was perfectly moulded to the impact of my childhood’s circumstances and to other peoples ideals, values, fears and expectations.
For many years I studied my reactions and thought processes. I studied my weaknesses and strengths. I observed as much as I could my own inner workings. I accepted (and I still am accepting) much and learned a great deal on all of these things.
Although I was born under a Gemini date and time I have found that I am as steady, grounded, methodical, steadfast, and stubborn and can be as grumpy and difficult to live with as the ox or Taurean. I find change and disorganisation quite uncomfortable, I am a builder of solid foundations, a very hard and dedicated worker and once my head is down and my eyes are locked onto a target I take it on horns and all until the utter end. But these qualities are not reflective of the Gemini. And before you think too much further on proving me wrong, let me assure you I am not a willing communicator, it took me many years of study and strength of self for me to write at least this eloquently and to simply socialise in a family or public environment. I am not one to sit in a corner or lock my self in a room at functions but I often find myself busy doing rather tan talking. (I’m normally the guest who is first in the kitchen offering help and usually last out of the kitchen after the kitchen has been cleaned and everything is set right. I liken it to moving the mountain that is me.
I prefer my own company and the company of those closest to me. In a social situation where the Gemini thrives I am a wall flower, I give very little small talk not because I am rude or arrogant but because I simply observe and take in. I interact when I feel something constructive could be given to the situation. Other wise I look listen and observe.
My perfect holiday is either at home in the garden, gardening or in the sun with a big novel. Or if I go away it is usually to the country where early morning starts are a must.
My point being: before one truly knows about their affect on outer world he must first look within.
We all aim to be that which is thrust upon us by our parents, friends, teaches and relatives. So isn’t it better to look within truthfully and quietly rather than standing on roof tops shouting to the world that you are what “they” told you, you were?

Wow, this is new to me. I was unaware that there was this “particular” in Astrology.
I wish I had known more about it before, perhaps it is a case of “When the student is Ready….the teacher appears”…who knows. What I find fascinating in it is that my older brother who during childhood was like a twin to me in ways, was born in the 13th position on Dec. 16th, and a man I thought of as my Soul~Mate was also born there-in, this is fascinating.

i’m either confused or in denial!- help! being the book-nerd that i am, i read and read books on top of books analyzing personality personas from when i was a child to the present. from how i present myself; i am almost 110% confident that my outterbase was more Leo-like. so i had thought. Ive spoken to astrologers, Drs, for a more clear and convincing explanation. He said he did not believe in any of the traits and compatibilty as if the media had set out info for a source of networking money make. But then i had asked him: if he WERE to pick up a newspaper which sign WOULD he read..he confidently said “Aquarius, my original sign.”
Alot of people find humor in zodiac, but i feel as though it gives me a sense of pride to where i stand and how far i can willingly push someone to their limits of successes and failures within our relationship. Of all honesty: it worked every EVERY single time! i was so advanced with it i was able to conversate and test to myself to see if i could figure out an individuals zodiac by conscious and body language. Im able to spot a virgo man EVERY time i try it out.
The stars will change with the universe, i just need to know why ancient beliefs are all shifted because of a star they located. lets just say with time; they may find another one, who knows what could happen. I just felt based on the star charts, there should be as many signs as you would like. In the old country your star sign is that, at the new country it is adjusted by one.
It looks like the solar system has crashed into the glatic core a few million times by now. A new solar system with all the creatures is created the next galatic day from the galaticc core.

Hahaha, everyone gets so angry…”I just KNOW I’m a ____!!!!” That’s hilarious. And as for the bit about “poor Scorpio” only having a few days…tough luck, bro. It is what it is. And this is NOT a “newly identified” thing, it’s actually very old.
Personally, I’m very happy to discover that I’m a[n awesomely-named] Serpentarius. Sure, I love Sag, and everything it means to be one, and I fit the bill nearly perfectly…and I still intend to claim it as my own…but in the back of my mind, I know that I have a secret house, all mine. It reminds me of how much I loved secret passages as a kid, and hidden rooms.
An interesting note, 2 of my brothers (yes, I did have a large family, and yes, we did split up when I was young) are both “Leos,” born Aug 17th and 13th, both after ‘90. By this chart, that makes them Gemini..which makes so much more sense, as they are polar opposites. Dwight is a typical “Leo”–cheerful, bright, shiny, beautiful, proud. Jim is shy, moody, poetic, soft, gentle except in rage, quiet. As Geminis, though, it fits–the twins, the flip sides of the same coin. Brilliant.

based on the lunar calendar, there are 13 months, each consisting of 28 days. that is why there were 13 zodiac signs. Ophiucus was between scorpio and sagittarius, so the logical thing to do would be to use nov 21-22 as the center of Ophicus. count 14 days either way, and then 28 days for each sign either way. oh and scorpio used to be an eagle.

Oh, and Johnnybe good… The sign you were born under are the sun signs, dependent on the sun’s position at the time of your birth. The same goes for moon and all the other planets. They affect different aspects of personality. The sun is your brain and individuality, the moon is your heart and emotion, and your rising sign is your physical body and appearance. Each planet has a different aspect. Getting angry and telling people to get a life because they don’t believe in this theory is rather childish.

This seems way too iffy. Sure, not everyone fits their sign the way they’re told, but that’s because of the influence of the other planets (if you believe in something like this.) According to all those charts, I’m a Virgo, which is definitely NOT the case. Although like my Venus in Virgo says I can be cautious about love, I’m Scorpio all the way. I’m into the dark and creepy, into the mysterious, emotional, secretive, probbing, bossy, and I’m too blunt and in-your-face. In fact, every astrologer I’ve seen has guessed me a Scorpio because of my eyes. I’ve also done research on many serial killers, and for fun looked at their charts and compared with their upbringing, they’ve all made sense. If something doesn’t fit right with your description, it’s either A) Your other planets need to be taken into consideration or B) The environment you grew up in. How you were raised can either enhance or delude some of your personality traits.
And Johnnybe good… Don’t get pissy at people. These signs ARE the SUN signs, not Planet Earth signs. They’re based off of the sun’s gravitational postition at the exact time of your birth, as well as the other planets. Sun sign is your brain and individuality. Moon is your heart and emotion. Rising sign is your physical appearence. Etc. Don’t get angry and tell people to get a life because they’re questioning a theory. It’s very childish. And yes, the moon is a big influence. I’ve always felt strongly that I am a Scorpio!! I have heard of Ophiechus before on the history channel, I think. A documentary on Nostradameus I believe it was. It sounded really interesting. I am highly interested in astrology. I love learning more & more!! I was born November 5, 1985 in Wadsworth, OH @ 5:47 p.m. !! The reason for my concern is that i want to know for certain!! My Venus & Mars are both in Libra, which makes it more hard for me to decipher the truth. My Saturn, Juno, & Pluto in Scorpio!! This does not account for the Ophiechus factor, but it just makes so much sense. Though, I’m never suprized & I could be wrong!! I’m pretty open minded!

I believe that someone should wash 7music’s mouth out with either soap or knuckles, i’m free to do either, why idiots like you always show up is beyond me. Firstly, lets get the facts straight, zodiac signs are NOT all equal, if you add the days together for all 13 signs you will find only 356, 9 days less than present! Secondly, zodiacal signs reflect astrological charts and only show the amount of days it takes for a particular system to pass the earth. Thirdly, i presume you still believe that we have 365 days in the year, if that is correct and we say ‘in 6 months time i’ll be doing this or that or whatever’ then are we saying i’ll be doing that in 182.5days time! Lastly, there are 13 signs of the zodiac, always have been for anyone who even has a passing interest in history or occultism, it was dropped to 12 for 2 reasons, the first was it was dropped because it mirrored the 13 people present at the last supper and deemed unlucky, thats if you believe that rubbish, the 2nd was because it was thought to be a small star system which passed through our galaxy very quickly (as we can see scorpio actually does that) so sometime in the mid 15th - 16th century it was changed. So please stop all the stupid swearing it just reminds me that people who swear a lot have very little intelligence or education.

Now I’m lost, all because I thought I might actually be an Ophiuchus!
I’ma start off saying that I (like the many others posted) a bit stubborn to believe after all these years my sign has changed, many because this will now make my 3rd sign. This falls mainly on lack of knowledge and being born on that mysterious “cusp”. My DOB is Nov 22, 1984; and while I might be as inquisitive as my rat sign claims… I’m not as clever (or maybe I just undermine myself). So being inquisitive and such I wanted to and have been researching my astrological sign(s?). At a young age I was told I was a scorp. However, looking into it I found it not to fit me too well or was maybe yet too young to fully comprehend it? But, this didn’t matter cause I was a child and scorpions were “cool” and I my attitude at the time kinda fitted. Yet as I grew older and more maturer (almost forcefully), I did begin to change my ways and along my path I would gaze upon astrology for fun to see if I would ever fill in my Scorp sign. I wouldn’t say I didn’t, but I’m inclined to believe I picked up the wrong, or should I say different shoes. Those shoes would be that of hoofs and a bow, and for many years now I will proudly call myself a Sagittarius, or Saggy cause I like that nickname better. Now before someone pipes up with “Your not a Sag… or Ophi cause blah blah”, I’d like to mention I picked up the wrong shoes… or hooves is because over the years of peaking at astrology I’ve seen my Day of birth (not the date) switch from Scorp to Sag… Sag to Scorp. I had no understanding as to why and was told to seek astrologers for this reason and over and over I’ve been told it’s because I was born on this “Cusp”. To save a few sentences, in an over all sense for where I fall I am a Saggy, with Scorp tendencies, and those in their proper professions would agree… or atleast I’m going by what they’ve said and I do find them to be true, or oddly coincidental.
So now I’ve heard of this 13th sign and it’s origins and I guess it’s legitimacy… and controversy much like rather Jesus is son of God or not (just not as bloody?) It’s all in a matter of what you want to believe… 12.. 13… (or all 48? Sun soaring the cosmos like Helen Keller in an SUV? …sorry) And I upon having a read here I’m wondering if maybe I am a Ophi cause of it placement between Scorp and Sag and with me being born on this cusp that maybe this cusp is not that of a cross over of signs after all? I mean after reading this post of the 13th sign I’m inclined to believe it now. After all the above mentions: “I’m not sure myself about the qualities of that of Ophiuchus, but perhaps if you mix Scorpio with Sagittarius you may come up with something along the right lines.” I am a mix of them if I must toot my own horn, yet I still feel as though I’m more Saggy because so many things that define the Sagittarius, define me as well and I don’t even try to fill these hooves! I don’t even try to let astrology control my life even if my destiny is written in the stars. I guess I can’t help but to still be my Chinese counter part and be curious as to rather I was born under this forgotten astrological sign then just trying to balance myself on this “cosmos-cusp”.
I hope maybe someone can help me out I don’t have all the charts and graphs and dates of each rise and fall of moons and suns and planets, however I know I can’t go on the chart placed above as those dates will always shift because of the Earths axis and other planetary moments and all the other irregularity of these celestial bodies. All I can do is put together facts I have that tell me: if Scorp comes before Saggy and then you push a astro sign between them then anyone on the Scorp/Saggy cusp should therefore be Ophi. Sorry that seems so linear, but if 1+1 is 2, but you take that 1+1 and place +3 in the middle you now have 1+3+1, and if you’re gonna tell me this doesn’t equal 5 then I’d like to know how… Yet on the same note because of what I’ve been reading Ophi throws in a curve and by inserting this +3 you first must shift the 1’s so then the equation might (for example) now look more like 8+3+8, and maybe I’m still expecting 5 because I didn’t change the 1’s. This does not mean I’m not open minded, but this is why I’m posting this (excessively longer then I expected) post, to see if I can get some better answers. And sorry for the maths and numbers and equations, but Astrology is a Science right? And what’s Science without Maths?

It seems to me more of a capricorn with an added trait. Capricorns work hard and do one thing at a time until they succeed. Meaning they gain knowledge and acquire their goals. The serpent is more like a capricorn that can also heal.
I dont think the serpent should be added, and to be frank, i always thought i would bring about the end or save it during 12.21.12
But if i’m supposed to bring the end then i’d rather be a capricorn with my wisdom and hard working and my knowledge. Besides, it would be best to keep with tradition than to change anything.

i used to think i was a virgo. my bday is sept 1st 199*. i wont share the last number for privacy sakes. after reading the original article it said i was included into the leo group. i looked up leo’s and im definetly not one. i fit the virgo description quite well tho so i stuck with that. then i saw “harry1ophi1″’s post about people born after 1990. and THAT said i was a cancer. well then i looked up cancer and it turns out i definetly am one. virgo matched me well but there were a cuple certain things that werent me. cancer is exact. even tho others may have tried to diss you “harry1ophi1″.. i thank you for posting that. it gave me a sense of knowing my own personality

I don’t like this at all…I was born March 6, 1990, and I am most certainly a pisces!! Everything about the pisces is me for sure!! Although, the horoscopes this zodiac offers are very general (and as they should be to encompensate everyone born under one sign), and I tend to follow the Chinese Zodiac horoscopes more. I also fit that one (horse) completely! Of course the main thing about both (sensitivity) are the same haha

I can’t believe this. I was born in Oct ‘89 and have always considered myself a Scorpio. I’ve dug around on a lot of different websites in the last year, learning about the Scorpio traits and all of the descriptions fit me perfectly. I mean, perfectly. But…according to this, I’m a Virgo. Well, they say that Scorpio is a long and skinny constellation, so the sun isn’t there for too long. That’s why it’s so short now.
What I don’t get is are the attributes and the descriptions of our astrological signs going to change too? Like is the old description of a cancer going to fit a description of a gemini since it changed? Because I am most definitely the exact mold of a cancer. I have ALL the attributes of a cancer. So if I’m technically a gemini, then why would I be just like a cancer? it makes no sense at all. Astronomers are stupid. I want to SLAP them. They should have just left it alone. It makes absolutely no difference if they recognize the 13th constellation or not. They could have just ignored it and we would have all went on with our merry lives without a notice and none of us would have to get so irritated by it. The signs of the zodiac and the division dates really are not related to the constellations at all, but to another (invisible) grid beyond our galaxy. Therefore, the fact that our stars have drifted or that they are not all 30 degrees is irrelevant. Wow. Kinda creepy, while I always shared a lot of Sag qualities, I never felt quite right. I felt a draw to leave my current career field and went into the health care field. Not to mention the weird draw I had to get my first tattoo which was a snake. Creepy.
Maybe the switching of the signs has subtly changed some attitudes and traits of folks which could lead to mass confusion and attitude issues.

I was born 22nd December 1987 - from the day I was born I have been taught and brought up as a Capricorn. All signs in mags and everywhere else you can find them all say I’m a Capricorn, always have. I am a Capricorn through and through, have been even since before I knew what a Capricorn even was.
According to somebody further up in the comments the signs have been changed for those born before 1990 and those born after 1990. Now according to that, I would be a Saggitarius, which is complete and utter bull shit. I don’t see anywhere else changing anything about signs.
What I don’t get is why people are suddenly changing all the signs just now. If these things had actually officially been changed for years, then why is it just coming to light now? Why have everything associated with the signs kept the ones we were taught as children?
They can’t decided that all of a sudden the signs have changed, that on the day you were born your sign was one thing, but now it is something completely different.
To me, this is just a load of people wanting to get the whole world het up about crap because nobody understand it, and will just accept it for what they say it is. These people are obnoxious and are more than likely out to get as much money as they can.

Ophiuchus the 13th Sign! Albeit, a question does come to mind as to “elements”. My research on astrology reveals each sign is governed by an element, i.e. Fire, Earth, Air, Water. Now if OPHIUCHUS becomes part of the zodiac, Aquarius presently governed by Air would be ruled by Water and Pisces presently governed by Water would be ruled by Fire. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmm. Maybe a new element will be added. This new discovery of Ophiuchus would indeed change the entire structure of the Zodiac and Astrology as we now know it would have to be redefined. Too think all these centuries we have been on the wrong path astrologically. I enjoyed being on the cusp as Pisces/Aries. What’s a zodiac lover to do now?

So how would you explain the plethora of people whose personality characteristics still match the original zodiac breakdown? I have rarely met people whose traits did not large correspond to their previously accepted zodiac signs including myself. I remember reading my horoscope description for the first time as a child and thinking “Wow, this is really me! How did they know?” and also the horoscopes of my parents, my children, my husband, and I would say all my friends (whose birthdays I know)still uphold the original zodiac sign descriptions. I understand that there are always exceptions but in my experience the exceptions to their zodiac sign characteristics were most unusual.

WHat I believe with this new system or theory that your a new identity but the same soul. I am a sagittarius and been researching up on the new internet buzz. Im only sagittarius once which is under the tropical date but under the sidereal date and this new theory im a scorpius. I like many finding out their new signs was angry and confused because for one im a full sagittarius. However ive learned I believe that under the sidereal there interpratation actually corresponds to the sign of Sagittarius in the West. WHich means that even though under this new theory I may be called a scorpius you cant cross in one system the name and then apply it to the definition in another system. Therefor under this new theory I may be called a scorpio but that of the definition in what people call the tropical sign. Therefore how people say the original zodiac sign given to them was false and did not apply with these new dates they may fall into what they rightfully should be. I think it’s really funny how so many people are extremely, boastfully willing to admit how jealous other people are of them, even if it’s true. I’m virgo, but have always felt leo tendencies, because I’m definitely not quiet or conservative, which are some general characteristics of virgos. Hi Guys, Sorry I havent been on for a while but im being kept very busy with charts and of course this 13th sign. For those of you who are worrying, please dont. My opinion as an astrologer is that the zodiac should remain the way it always has done. Although I find the 13th sign interesting I do not work with it and do not live by it. Looking further into your birth chart with explain why you may not feel like your given birth sign, for instance if you were born in Cancer but feel more like a Leo it is probably due to the fact there is a heavy Leo/Fire influence within your chart and not because of a mysterious 13 th sign. That is my opinion and right now that is all anyone can give.

Hi everyone, I have been reading up on Ophiuchus and I have to say that I am quite intrigued. I dont know alot about any of this.I mean I know I am lined up as a Sagittarius. That’s about it. I know whenever I read my horoscopes they are usually pretty fun, there usually a little wrong but hey its a best guess. Anyways what I was wondering is, if there is a 12 sign zodiac and there is also 13 signs why hasn’t anyone made up a 13 sign zodiac chart?(If they havent already)Or why hasn’t someone formed characteristics about one who is Ophiuchus? You know like they have now for the 12 other traditional signs.
If we went by the 13 signs I would be Ophiuchus going by 12 I am Sagittarius.
I am not biased to either two. (But I must say my favorites numbers are 13 and 5 :)!)

Ok so I am not sold on this changing of the signs thing. I have been a Gemini for the past 28 years and I’m always going to be a Gemini, When I read what the discription and charicteristics of a Gemini are I fit them to a TEE and when I do the same for Taurus I don’t fit at all. I really do not think that changing or adding to the signs is a good idea, for instance think about all those people out there who have decided to get tattoos of their signs. Now according to some crack pots they are wrong and have a wrong tattoo thats with them forever. I can understand if they were to change the signs according to certan years like if you were born before such-n-such date this Zodiac calender is for you and if you were born after this year then this is your Zodiac calender. This would make more sence than just out right changing everyones sign based on realinments that happen recently and maybe not in the past.

If I’m looking at all of this correctly and understand what’s being said; and I admit I may not be, it looks like because of the rotation of the Earth’s axis that as of now the Sun will enter the house of Ophi. If that is indeed the case, and the Sun hasn’t been entering Ophiuchus, how then does this change my sign? I was under the impression that your sign was based on the position of the Sun at the time of your birth. Since the Sun hasn’t been in Ophi because of the axis then Ophi hasn’t been affecting the zodiac at all. Therefore, wherever the Sun was when I was born makes that sign my sign. Doesn’t all of this mean that we’d just be going by this new zodiac list until the Earth’s axis swings it back around? Am I completely off base here or is this making sense?

The hindu’s have always believed in 13th signs. We cannot even call this one the 13th, as it would be the hidden 9th as per astrology order. The western astrology had considered this constellation to be within the signs over 2000 years ago and dismissed it due to superstition as well as the principals of what the western astrology was based on: the cycle of life, the 4 seasons & 4 elements, psychology/personalities. This is not a new finding. I also believe that we cannot claim to be one sign or another; rather that we are born under this sign. As we all walk this earth and go through the same cycles we all have the same attributes of all the signs, and our sign would have certain attributes that are more predominant than say another sign. The accounting of the elements, and the division of the introverted and extrovert & hemisphere north and south studies from these western signs would be skewed too much if we had to include an extra sign to make up to 13.
I also agree with whoever said that Scorpio was now only 6 days long ??- that doesn’t seem right at all. The Chinese believe the signs are related to animals and the Celtic astrology believes that they are in relation to trees. I believe they all have their place. But to add a sign at this point all the western signs would have to change in their aspects too; not stay the same but add traits and personality attributes for this ‘new” one.

As a very long time student of astrology, I have to wonder why another student of astrology is so quick to jump on this bandwagon. It was proposed by astronomers, a group of scientists with no respect whatsoever for astrology. Why would you allow them to tell you what is so about astrology? Why would you allow their declarations about something for which they have zero respect, and that is by their own admission not even their field, to cause you to present this as if it is fact?
I wonder, do you not realize that what they’ve put forth makes astrology as a whole nothing more than the ridiculous lie they’ve always made it out to be? Almost nobody is the sign they ever thought they were after spending their whole lives reading their horoscopes and many, though not all obviously from the comments above, seeing themselves in the description. Now, they’re something else? Do you not see how this undermines the entire field? Really?

The procession simply proceeded as calculated, and the stars, etc, are simply about 30º off from where they were when all this stuff was drawn up the first time thousands of years ago.
So, “the sky you were born in” is 30 degrees over from where it would have been, because the earth, and planets, and stars, etc…are not fixed in position, but all moving relative to each other.
No one had updated the charts for many many centuries, and, they are no longer accurate. (Familiar, sure, accurate, no)
If you had decided that astrology was accurate because you felt it described you, or, you felt astrology was not accurate because it didn’t describe you, perhaps now is your chance to decide if its you, or astrology that is mistaken.
If its off by 30 degrees, well, that can make astrology right, but make its UNCORRECTED PREDICTIONS WRONG.

I believe that there are exceptions to all zodiac signs. To a degree, the zodiac is more of a guideline to personalities and love, money, etc. Just because you were born during a certain time of the year does not necessarily mean that you will fit the zodiac you were born in. The zodiac means that a lot of people born during a certain time of year have qualities that fit their said zodiac sign. It’s a guideline, so don’t base your whole life off the zodiac. It’s just there to help, not determine. My birthday is April 2nd. I fit the Aries zodiac the best. However, I don’t look at my horoscope everyday or anything of that source. I just know the basis of the zodiac and I am content with that because it has told me about myself that I did not know and it makes sense. it’s my guide, not absolute.

I’m really annoyed with these people who think they’re new sign fits them perfectly. The old descriptions for zodiac signs are based off how people born on those signs were. If you were born around that time, THAT’S your description. The only thing that changed was your zodiac sign. NOTHING ELSE.

This new system is pretty confusing, and the new sign also feels out of place among all the Greek-origin signs. Sure theres a few things about Leo that fit me, but Virgo fits me perfectly all around.
But it seems like theres some people where the new system fits them better, to each their own I guess. I’ll personally stick to the old one.
…To those who are complaining and raging about the new system, you people take astrology way too seriously.

I just found out I’m not Sagittarius but Ophiuchus. I love that ! I was very content to be Sagittarius, but I think Ophiuchus is even better, as we “handle serpents”. People… wake up!! The Bible says: “They shall seek to change time and date”. How convenient that those powers in high places who worship Lucifer and run the world would find a new sign called “Serpentarious” Who is the Serpent? Satan!… their leader, and why the number 13? It just seems like they tried to squeeze this new sign. Scorpio only has 6 days now.. but some unknown sign we never heard of has at least 18, and cancer now has 18 days and Virgo now covers a month in a half.. I just think that this is strange.. My birthday is April 16, I am an Aries female I have all the characteristics of it and strongly believe that if this 13 sign was there all along it would have been in the charts the whole time. But it was discarded and it was probably for a reason. I fit the description of an Aries, and now its saying a a fucking fish. Hell no. The wobble has changed the location of the signs along the ecliptic. Ophiuchus has always been on the ecliptic … any body who knows astronomy would know that. Why he wasn’t included in astrology is beyond my understanding, but there is nothing new about the fact that the constellation is on the ecliptic. If you really NEED to be what Ptolemy says you are … then simply reappear on the Earth 24,000 years from now, and everything will be just fine.

Well, I was born March 9, 1987. I am considered a Pisces in the “old” or regular zodiac, and two days into Aquarius in this “new” interpretation.
I can say either way I am Piscean in some ways, but the taste for drugs and alcohol have never been present, and I require an intelligent companion over an emotional relationship. Many men think I am here especially to make them seem less manly, which also seems like an Aquarius woman trait. I am sensible, logical, even mathematical though simple math does not work for me.
To some I may seem like a Pisces because I can come off as quiet and artistic but commonly I hear I am intellectual and non emotional. Like Spock.
Anyways, they always make Pisces out to be an anorexic nympho or a fat person that sits around and gossips about people, and we get the guru image, the eternal mother, blah blah blah.
Is it possible that you guys have been reading about this stuff for so long that you convinced yourself that you were the other signs? Don’t get defensive-I don’t know which zodiac to choose anyways because I don’t know enough about astrology. It just seems that a lot of things match up.
Also, you have to take into account that if you are basing whether or not you are a certain sign on current studies based on current control group parameters, than those studies will not line up with the parameter of people this new interpretation contains. We should try basing our understanding of the sings based on what they are really about instead of observations like “Aquarius is not jealous” or “Pisces is submissive” in online control group studies that are numerous but lack quality and consistency. The only way to know for sure is to do new control group studies based on these new guidelines. You may be surprised at what you find. Specimens are everywhere so release old conceptions and focus on redefining. If it doesn’t work out, we can always go back to the old one.

I am really confused about this. I was born on April 22nd, making me a Taurus. But now it’s saying i’m an Aries…well the traits of Taurus fit me really well; how Taureans are stubborn and take long to make decisions. But also at the same time, there were some traits that DIDNT fit me like; being a glamour girl and getting easily embarassed. The Aries traits sort of fit me. Regardless, i think im more of an Aries because my horoscopes were always wrong when i (thought) i was a Taurus. Now that i read Aries horoscopes, they make a lil more sense:)

When, I was in grade school, I was thought that there were only nine planet…(Men Very Easily Makes Jokes Serve Useful Necessary Purposes) one Moon and one sun. But today, the nine planet thing is a of old. There are many moons and more than one sun. When the zodiac sign is juicy, that’s me but when it is bitter, that is not me. I can’t believe I’m just hearing about this 13th sign - and these posts date back to 2008! I’m personally relieved to learn there is a reason I have always disappointed myself as a Virgo: with the shifting of the dates, I’m a Leo that dislikes failure! As a Virgo I failed to be anal. I failed to be critical. I failed to be detailed loving. I might view astrology with more interest now - in the past it seemed like malarky because I didn’t fit where I was told I was supposed to be.
I’d like to learn more about the Ophiuchus sign - does it join any of the other elements? What is written about the character traits fits the people I know born in those dates. How do the compatiblity charts work in the 13th sign?

Why the New Zodiac is Wrong

The introduction of the new sign Ophiucus is an attempt to channel or interpret the configurations of a constellation, or a body of stars, and work it into the 12-zodiac astrology system which is based upon the seasonal marking points of the equinoxes and related to the planetary configurations. Under the new system, all current signs are apparently shifted by about one month or so, and the sign Scorpio is squeezed into the week of November 23-29 when the constellation Scorpius passes through that part of the year. Scorpio as we knew it was swallowed entirely by the assigned dates of the new Libra.
However, this apparent change or shift in the constellations should not affect the current workings of astrology for several reasons. Astrology as was performed for the past thousands of years has rested upon the configuration of the planetary bodies in relation to a person’s birthplace, the exact hour being used to determine the ascendant according to planetary and celestial bodies’ configurations. The planets represent the ego, outlook, or persona of the person, and the configuration of certain planets in relation to the others would determine other traits such as needs (often associated with the moon sign) and the external ego (ascendant). A person born in the middle of November, for example, would be considered a Scorpio because the sun passes through Pluto which is considered a planet that governs that sign. This person would embody some of the traits ascribed to the Scorpio personality in addition to effecting the influence of that sign, often associated with research. What has happened is that the “new zodiac” signs have been confused with the constellations, or the position of body of stars, in relation to the person’s birthplace. Libra’s constellation, for example, would appear during the period assigned traditionally to Scorpio and Scorpius, the constellation so named after the scorpion which is symbolic of Scorpio, would appear during November 23-29 which is in the sign Sagittarius.
There are a number of possibilites why this is so. A first possibility is that the constellation presiding over the sign may be said to effect an “influence” over that part of the sign. For Scorpio, the constellation Libra, when it passes through that sign, may impart a sense of judgment or discernment. For the week of November 23-29, Scorpius may impart some qualities associated with Scorpio to that part of Sagittarius. Astrology combines not only the sun sign and the moon sign but other aspects, including planetary configurations. Each sign is supposedly split into three decans which have differing qualities according to the rulership or influence of presiding planets, though they all share the same “theme” represented by the planet governing their shared sign. For example, Gemini is often divided into three decans presided over by Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius, though all three decans are considered essentially Gemini. The constellation passing through the sign may be another “aspect” or influence of that part of the sign in determining his or her personality.
Another factor that perhaps causes some confusion is the “carryover” of some signs’ traits into others. It has often been observed that natives of one sign may exhibit some of the traits of the sign preceding it; some astrologers would point to the significance of having “recently passed through” that sign. A gemini, for example, may show a great appreciation of food, or “comfort food,” which is often used to describe a Taurus. A cancer might be rather garrulous, but his essential nature is supposedly to hold onto things and letting go only afterwards. A Leo can be a great caretaker of the home, a carryover trait from Cancer, and a Virgo may be rather flamboyant when attracting a mate; a Libra may be critical and practical if a situation calls for it, and a Scorpio may seem to possess judgment and discernment as well as the ability to balance another person’s view if called for; a Sagittarius may seem to be able to see through one’s exterior, and a Capricorn may seem to be headed past the horizon; an Aquarius may often have a more conservative framework from which he works, and a Pisces may be rather friendly, humanitarian, and diffuse in compassion; an Aries may seem somewhat nebulous at times and a Taurus may appear to take on the lead on occasion. Some signs also have special qualities that seem to contradict their essential nature. Capricorns, for example, are often noted for growing younger with age, after having experienced some hardships; it is a cardinal earth sign associated with construction and public distinction among other things. Cancers can be talkative in matters concerning relationships; they are also changeable and moody and capable of becoming confidence tricksters; they may also change affiliations.
There is also the influence of the progressed sun. A person born in one sign, for example, may have his goals, image, or aspirations changed later on in life due to the influence of the newer configuartion of planetary bodies; he may also take on the traits of another sign. Some qualities may not change, but some can. Each year in a person’s life could be said to correspond to a day progressing after the person’s day of birth. For example, a person born in January 21 who is thirty years old would probably have an affinity with someone who is born on February 21 because of his or her progressed sun. That is, his or her views, aspirations, image, or goals, may be influenced by or have an affinity with Aquarius. A Gemini born in June 3 may see his progressed sun move into Leo at the age of around forty-eight. The “new zodiac” seems to offset each sign by about one month. If a person’s characteristics, traits, and aspirations can be observed over time, it can be seen that a person may enter a turning point when his progressed sun crosses into another sign. Since each sign is followed by a supposedly incompatible element, it would seem that they appear to change, though their ego or outlook may remain the same. Fire and air signs have often been associated with “masculine” qualities such as energy, enthusiasm, activity, and are diurnal while earth and water signs are associated with “feminine” qualities such as receptivity, sensitivity, selectivity, practicality, and are noctural. Of course, there are several other aspects and influences that one needs to take a look at in determining a more holistic view of a person’s astrological profile. It is possible that the “new zodiac” has somehow noticed this “change” without making the proper distinctions. Scorpio, which was replaced by Libra, could be associated with the more “masculine” qualities of Sagittarius, as a Scorpio’s progressed sun would move into Sagittarius. Perhaps it is more likely that the “carryover” traits were used in confirming this “new” zodiac, if evidence were used at all.
The 12-sign system of astrology corresponds to the seasons. Scorpio, which is traditionally associated with the fall, would represent death and decay. Each season represents also an “inner age” and Scorpio could be said to preside over the ages forty-nine through fifty-six. Its tarot card is often shown as “Death,” which represents death through putrefaction but also the qualities of renewal, regeneration, or rebirth; it is associated with change. Aleister Crowley called Scorpio the “great putrefier” due to its nature towards putrefaction, or getting rid of what one does not need. It is associated with transformation that is total and complete, sometimes secrecy, research, other people’s possessions, and emotional intensity among other traits and associations. It is often compared with the ocean, and many Scorpio natives seem to have an appreciation of views of the ocean. It makes sense that this sign would correspond with the fall, sometime between late October and late November. There is a fixity of emotion associated with this time of the year; it is also the time of hoarding before winter, and Pluto presides over the underworld as well as wealth. Sylvia Plath, for example, was a Scorpio. To call the week of November 23-29 the new Scorpio would be to deny the astrological and symbolic influence of the season, which has proven significant in the establishment of astrology; it would be ascribing the traits of the fixed water sign to a muteable fire sign. Perhaps why this week is associated with Scorpio is because of the qualities imparted by the Scorpio sign itself. Those born on the “cusp” of two signs seem to have traits corresponding to both signs, often deemed incompatible. The week November 23-29 would coincide with the Scorpio-Sagittarius cusp, which is acknowledged and referred to by some astrologers as the “Cusp of Revolution,” though usually cusps can include slightly more of the previous sign and a bit less of the rising sign. The natives born in this week would then exhibit some traits of Scorpio, perhaps a strength of energy and tenacity of willpower with secrecy coupled with those of Sagittarius. Scorpios are often recognized by their intensity, composure, and emotional nature. Another sign, Leos are accompanied by the end of summer; its associations include the child, the lover, and the glory of man that comes at summer’s end before the beginning of autumn. Each week also corresponds to a different “theme” in astrology.
To give another example of seasonal significance, people in the spring often are considered to possess more energy and enthusiasm while those in the fall appear more critical or selective; those born in the summer are often said to have more measured responses and those born in the winter are said to be more tolerant. Capricorn, for example, occurs sometime between late December and late January; it is associated with winter and its corresponding tarot card is the Devil who appears as a cloaked priest; it is the point during which the sun begins its climb from the southernmost point, bringing perhaps with it aspirations and hope, and Crowley noted its significance in his book The General Principles of Astrology.
It has been pointed out that the Babylonians chose not to include Ophiucus to keep the 12-sign system intact. However, there are a number of other such potential signs, such as Ceta, and other bodies of stars that would correspond to any of the 88 or so recognizable constellations in space. The 12-system astrological sign is important because it keeps not only with the seasons, but also enables astrologers to configure associations among the signs in a manner that has been revered and studied by astrologers for thousands of years. So Ophiucus would not be an actual “sign” but perhaps a constellation that influences that part of Sagittarius. The traits ascribed to Ophiucus could be used to describe that part of sagittarius, just as the traits ascribed to Scorpius could be used to describe the influence of that constellation on that part of sagittarius; it need not revolutionise the system in a manner that is counter-intuitive. Astrology was numerically significant in keeping with the 12-sign system. It allows one to read relationships among the signs according to some of the “major” and “minor” aspects such as the square, opposition, trine, sextile, quincunx, and others. The introduction of these new ascribed dates would distort the significance of the system for the sake of the introduction of one constellation, when there are other constellations that pass through the signs throughout the year. The Minnesota Planetarium Society has already announced its intention to break with the 12-sign system, but perhaps without consideration to the workings of astrology. It has already generated quite a bit of confusion, especially to those who may care more than they are willing to admit, though they may not realize that the “newness” is really an attempt to re-configure a system that has proven to be of significance. The more impressionable who look to astrology may already have done some “shopping around” to determine whether or not they fit their new ascribed sign and perhaps found some confirmation in a different perception. The new sign Ophiucus just seems too “new age” and unaccountable to withstand the tests of evidence, much less to alter the configurations; it may in fact generate more confusion in the long run. The Babylonians did not invent astrology; astrology also has its roots in Greek, Roman, and some Egyptian culture which has shaped its significance. The “wobble” in the earth’s axis which supposedly created this shift is being exaggerated in its significance. Answer me this: why, over the past several decades, have birth charts continually been produced and used in astrology with specific calculated times and locations of planetary bodies in relation to place of birth, and why should a tilt in the earth’s axis render these calculations insignificant? The 12-sign system corresponds to the compass, and the cardinal directions are often ascribed to the four elements: fire, water, earth, and air. The twelve signs are also divided into three: cardinal, muteable, and fixed. Each cardinal sign is squared or opposed by another cardinal sign; each fixed and muteable by the same, respectively. Historians point out that astrology was used to determine some significant politican events; some generals were said to have selected soldiers who had a Mars influence in their birth. Astrology has been used to shape history; there is no reason why this new system should be considered particularly significant.
The supposed misalignment of the constellations isn’t news. To find out more about your sun sign, just google your birthdate and “astrology.” The stars should be forced to match the signs, and not the other way around. This is also a good example of why you shouldn’t trust everything you read in the news. This is my opinion.

The Western Zodiac doesn’t follow precession for a reason, its NOT that people didn’t know about the shift of the Earth’s axis. Western Zodiac follows the seasons (which makes more sense). Even if we tilt due to precession we still go into the Spring/Fall equinoxes and Summer/Winter solstice about the same time every year. So beginning of spring/ spring equinox = beginning of Aries, and so on (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equinox). Think about it, the earth tilts which makes the constellations APPEAR to have shifted which makes the sun APPEAR to have “entered” the constellation at a different time, that’s all. The stars are not what is moving it’s the earth that is tilting (why would a group of suns shift together in one direction anyway).
The ancients just used the constellations to map where the sun was (and believed that the sun “rose” because they were ignorant of the fact that it’s actually the earth rotating) and used to mark the beginning, middle, ending of the seasons. They noticed certain characteristics of people in certain seasons (adding a 13th sign won’t change anything about your personality, you were still born near the end of fall). Think of it like certain flowers bloom at certain times.
Also, I think it only applies to people born above the Tropic of Cancer (northern hemisphere) or below the Tropic of Capricorn (southern hemisphere), there is relatively no change of season in between. Also, the equinoxes/solstices are exactly opposite in northern southern hemispere so for example someone born on March 22 would be Aries in the northern hemisphere but is a Libra if born in the southern.

I am amazed I have only just found out about this. Reading about Ophiuchus has made everything fall into place! I am born in the sign of Ophiuchus December 15th. I have always wondered why I didn’t quite fit with Sagittarius, then I found something that said my rising sign was Scorpio. If I mixed the traits of each of these signs then I actually came up with something closer to me but not quite. Also people often said they wouldn’t have put me as a Sagittarius. Also I’m a spiritual healer very connected to the earth. I have always had the name Imhotep in my head, ever since I first heard it spoken, it just pops up randomly! I feel like so many things have been explained now its unreal.
Also the people around me that don’t seem to fit their star sign have all fallen into place according to the updated chart! As much as many of them will hate to admit it! It seems allot of their negative traits have stemmed from them trying to live up to a star sign that they are not. For example, my ‘Arian’ psychopathic ex is actually a Pieces. The sign he always called Pisskeys and put down as a weak feeble sign not worthy of his grandeur. LOL wont he be pissed! It is amazing really that my supposedly well balanced Libra boyfriend and Daughter are actually both Virgo, which explains it all
So I guess the big question is……. When do we get the signs put right so we can all be ourselves and not try to be someone else?

Hm. Apparently I’m not a Pisces, I’m Capricorn. Not sure I believe this, because first of all they are incredibly different signs. I do have Capricorn ascendant, so the difference for me isn’t quite as pronounced as it might be anyway but…well, I still think of myself as Pisces.

I don’t believe in this theory, I have always fitted well with the Sagittarius star sign, it has always defined me. I feel very proud of being the star sign that I am (I won’t change it to any other) and I find it hard to accept that it could be different to what it is. I love being a Sagittarius, I love both my strenghts and my weaknesses because they make me who I am. I believe very strongly in astronomy marking our characters but I feel that they may have made a mistake, although I find the traits of the 13th sign interesting it will never be me; I will always be the traveller, looking for new experiences and knowledge of life. I don’t believe that after all of these years I would ever embrace a new sign, heck, even if I have to make December 18th my unofficial birthday I will always be a Saggitarius.

This is complete bullshit; for all of those people who are bowing down and going, “thank you thank you, I always knew I was a Pisces, not an Aries!!”, you’re being quite moronic.
For one, Ophichus is a constellation; astrology is based on the four seasons, not on constellations — and the seasons don’t change now, do they? They’re four seasons, each with a beginning, middle and end, which adds up to 12 zodiac signs. There is no 13th astrological sign. Period.
Also, astrologers use the Tropical zodiac, which is based on the seasons, not the signs. Anyone who seriously researches the subject would know that.
1. Astrology is Earth-centric. Not star- or Moon-centric. If the Moon’s relative position to the stars changes, that doesn’t mean the zodiac changes.
2. Western astrologers have used a Tropical or season-based zodiac for about 2,500 years. That is why time and location of birth are so important.
3. The signs of the zodiac, while represented in constellations, are not derived or aligned exclusively with constellations (although they did so coincidentally around 2000 years ago.)
This is a crazy media hype which dumb people are clearly believing; the way Ophiuchus is described is “a combination of a Scorpio & a Saggitarius”. Is that not how the Scorpio-Saggitarian cusp is like? If so, should not all cusp signs get a friggen name of their own?
It makes no sense at all.

Look, for all of you that think something “describes you to a ‘T’”, maybe that’s true. But who’s to say this new proposal is ALL bs. I’m a capricorn and NOBODY i know can tell, but i like it. It (being like a cap but with twists) makes me exceptional. Not to mention, there’s more than just the sun sign that makes you up, there’s your moon and rising and everything. So get used to the idea. Realistically, the stars do shift every few years, things aren’t just sitting still out there!! So if that sidereal chart says i’m really a scorpio, whatever, caps and scorps share several characteristics anyway. All i’m saying is don’t be so fixed in your ways, everything changes with time

It appears that western astrology is based on the equator (tropics of Capricorn and Cancer) and the seasons of the earth rather than the constellations. While the constellations are associated with traits of the twelve signs, western astrology does not incorporate the actaul position of a particular at the time of birth for the natal chart. One of the things I did find facinating is that the moon has 13 rather than twelve, and while our current calendar is based on twelve months it would be more accurate if based on 13 months with each month lasting 28 days. I will have to research further to find the reason the calendar has 12 months that require adjustments such as the leap year to keep on track.

To all those people out there swearing about how it doesn’t fit them and how it feels wrong or its just plain b/s…its human nature to fear change. So as my parents always said, if you have nothing nice to say, DON’T say anything at all.
I’m personally open minded about the whole thing. I was brought up to believe I am an Aries, but felt that some attributes associated to Aries didn’t apply to me. But then, I remembered that that’s just my Sun sign…I have no idea what my Moon sign, or which planets are where, etc. So how can you say you are something when there are MANY factors to take into consideration.
But then again, if you don’t believe in astrology, don’t read anything associated with it.

The 13th Sign is only included in the sidereal Zodiac; most are attuned to the tropical Zodiac. “OMGOMGOMGTHISISWRONG!” Er, it didn’t concern you to begin with if you were ranting about how you’re “SONOTA[sign]”, as the stars always fricken change- have been changing since the beginning of horoscopes almost 2000 years ago.
So, technically, nobody is an ‘orphuichus’ personality wise. However, some people are more attuned to the sidereal than to the tropical, hence the ‘mis-signing’ of some people. I, for one, am sandwiched between being an Aries and a Pisces- I have no idea how or why, but I’m very much an Aries within. Just have a few Pisces qualities within me.

I am a very proud leo, i do not agree at all with this new zodiac. every characteristic of a leo fits me perfectly, including the attitude. which is y i am no longer going to acknowledge this new sign and wait for it to pass. i think it is wrong that someone would want to change something as awesome and ancient as the zodiac. if there hasnt been a 13th symbol for thousands and thousands of years, y change it now? too much about this sign reaks of bad luck. first off its the 13th symbol, and unlucky number. it has the sign of the devil in it. and it comes around the time that the ancient calanders marks as the end of the world. no disrespect to cancer, but i think its a load of bs that they are trying to say im no longer a leo. i ahve a child born under this new sign and i think the charachteristics are great but she can still have those atributes without having a new sign.

Everyone in the west which includes me in australia is not affected and our signs stay the same. Based on the new dates for the signs, i’m now a virgo. I was a libra before(October 11)I read the meaning for both. I am a very religious person and don’t really get into the signs but I find that the Sagitarius sign that I had been under for so long actually fit my personality well. Now after reading an article from Discovery News I found out that I am an Ophiuchus. It will be interesting to do the research on this sign just as an educational experience. I like the 13 cycle zodiac, it feels like this is the way is should be. Being born on Aug 24, I always assumed that since I’m Virgo on the cusp of Leo, that’s why I have so many Leo qualities. Same with my husband, he was born on Nov 23rd and I’ve always thought he was more Scorpio.

Ohk…I found out about this Ophiucus thang thang a few days ago. I can accept the fact that there is a new Sign, yes. But as for my sign changing because of this i find it to be a load of bulls**t! I was born under Aries. And since the stars, and planets were aligned that way that is who i am, and how i am which is a true Aries.

I believe that this change only effects those born from here on out (2011) Since it was now announced that Ophiucus is now apart of the Zodiac. Roughly 2,000 years ago, each sign lined up with its corresponding part of the sky, but since then each constellation has moved by (roughly) one sign. So if you were born a Taurus, the sun was in the Taurus part of the sky when you were born - it’s just that the stars that make up Taurus itself have moved! Hey, I didn’t come up with it, but it sure explains why many people fit their original sign.

Everyone, wether you like this or not, Ophiucus , the thirteenth sign, only applies to newborns. Your zodiac sign is determined by the constellation that the sun was in on the day you were born,or something like that. Good news: I’m NOT A CAPRICORN! I am an Aquarius and will always be so. Because you change Signs, does not mean you change personality. People born in early Nov had a certain characteristic, like “Great leader”. Now Nov is in Libra, so LIBRA is associated with the characteristic “Great Leader”, not that the great leaders all of a sudden become shy followers.

There is Precession of the Equinoxes so the constellations do not stay fixed in our sky. Do the math, it is one degree for each year, for millenia. If the Maya or their ancestors recorded the most accurate calendar known and had a Feathered Serpent god called Q’uq’umatz who travels between Heaven and Earth they believed to be creator, destroyer, and redeemer that could renew the world, why should we fear something that has been prophesied in many Holy Scriptures? Maybe translators are wrong about the end date shown on the Mayan calendar because of precession. Seems many people in power want to keep their positions and keep objects of enlightenment hidden. Could it be the Maya calendar has 13 signs? They didn’t use 7 day week or 30 day month like we do. My theory is Maya and Native Americans are decendants of Atlantians, which were supposed to be very advanced in knowledge, also, the Gulf of Mexico may be the location of Atlantis and that the BP drill hit a volcano or fault line in the Gulf of Mexico, because when I saw the under water images it looked like fire and mud coming up, not oil, so what do you think?

See, this updated roster has me as a Gemini, and I’ve always been a Cancer. I was very meticulous about plotting out my star chart for when I was born, and I’ve always found it so strange how strongly I identified with the Cancerian traits, even as a skeptic and someone that didn’t even give my sign any consideration for years. I always felt such a strong pull towards the moon, even from a young age, I’ve always loved the colours of my sign, I’m the very definition of a homebodied introvert.

As far as I am concerned I don’t believe in Sidereal Astrology. Here is why, from my experiences observing the signs the Tropical Zodiac which is out normal astrology is the most accurate by far. I am a Aries and from my experience Aries born March 25-April 20 are Aries, not everybody but most people. Now—– that we are all Pieces are the real Aries going to have the duel personality of Pisces as well. I basically think that they are going to have to reinvent new character descriptions as well. Sorry,I think the signs will be horribly misrepresented. So now when I date someone that Libra I am dating is actually a Scorpio in disguise ready for the kill. Or that fiery Leo that I once dated is now a fussy Virgo. What are they suggesting that we change our personalities all together it is not accurate at all.
I believe that Astrology is accurate and I have had mind blowing accurate astrological natal reports and astrological reading. Does any of that account for anything in this time of misinformation. Sorry but I am not changing no matter how many newspapers and magazines want to print this new horoscope. Besides think about it what would have more of a gravity pull on Earth(affecting seasons, weather, temperament disposition and etc the planets (tropical zodiac) around us or some constellation billions of miles away which I am not even sure the sun passes through it (sidereal zodiac)? Quite frankly there is not enough information available to the public as to what that astronomer was referring to, from what I read it is awfully confusing. I can understand why so many people are freaking out and some people are happy to have a new sign. But this new horoscope is not for me, no way.

I’ve tried to wrap my head around the changing charts in multiple ways. Each way I view it brings me to a differet conclusion, which can be frustrating. I’ve never looked into the science behind astrology, but followed both my eastern and western zodiac signs. I believed up until a week or so ago that I was born an Ox/Aquarius. When they said the charts changed, I replied that “there is no such thing as coincidence, and that the stars were aligned where they were supposed to be when I was born, to make me who I am.” Once I was given a few moments (meaning days) to let it really sink in, I decided Ihad to know the facts.I needed my own comfirmation. I have visted this site bfore and thought you seemed knowledgable and kind. I was hoping you could clarify this for me, I was born on February 2nd, 1986. I was born February 12 & defenatly born & will dye an Aquarius. I don’t really know what going on with this 13th sign, & have nothing personally against capricornians, but sorry, it doesn’t describe me at all. I have always been amazed at how much Aquarius describes me to a T in every way,so in the end I just have to say that astrology is a litle complicated & is in need to get their act together oposed to confusing people. Basically only the children from say, 2009, will receive the new ‘Imprint’, or Energy from this new configuration! In Horary Astrology what our character and personality will be is deep seeded within our starsign et al. From, the knowledge I have gained, there is a siderial changes and tropical that stay the same as of zodiac constellation.
Zodiacs also fall under the date and time off a persons birth. For me I am born august 29th meaning I was born under the constilation virgo, for those born before the 28th of august are born under the moon of leo and constilation of vigo and have few characteristics of leo. I have many leo friends and am a firm believer of the tropical zodiac.

Sorry for my bad english, but i really believe that this discussion doesn’t matters. The answer relies in the most misterious force of the universe: gravity. My point is that both light and gravity have power to define the zodiac sings caracheteres, such we see in more expressive way watching the influence of the moon in earth life.
The ophiuchus constelation is 5500 light years from earth, so the conclusion is that although that light we see, the highest speed of universe, we don’t “feel” completely the gravitacional force, much inferior in terms of speed , reazon that i belief that the 13 sign merge with the actual 12 zodiac signs in terms of astro aspects. I do’t know how to calculate this…but if anyone could…

Astrology is the relation between the earth and the heavens. The earth has four seasons and each season is split into three sections “The beginning, the continuation, and the ending.” Four seasons x three sections of a season =12. Ancient astrologers created the zodiac signs of the stars including ophiucus. They left it out because they understood it was less about constellations and more about the seasons of our own earth. It just so happens that we are pointing at certain points of the sky during those seasons. The 13th sign off balances our own seasons, which in turn ruins the idea of astrology (the relation between us and the universe).

This all came at a peculiar time of life for me. I’m born 3/22/1958 in Richmond, California at 7:36 am PST. All my life, I read Pisces because while not perfect, it came the closest to me and where I was at during a particular time. At 17, a woman was intrigued by something she did not share with me and did a free reading that left her baffled. At 21, a similar thing happened and that professional did it twice because she thought she got something wrong the first time but came up with the same aspects, conjunctions, etc and said to me that if she hadn’t seen it for herself, she’d never have believed it. In my thirties others found the same thing. In my forties, a counselor told me while I was massaging her that she needed to research something. I’d not told her what others had found. She just began talking during the massage and she seemed excited. This woman was older and a truly balanced soul. She called me one day and asked me to come over. In a two week period she led me through what she found, how she found it and explaining carefully every contradiction. She told me I was a reluctant Aries because I wouldn’t truly come into being an Aries until I was 55 yrs old.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately as I’m coming upon my 53rd birthday. I’m tickled with anticipation of what I’ve not yet become. I felt stagnant for a few years now but sense some transformation on the horizon. Could it be that this 13th addition has some credence amongst the traditional beliefs? We shall see.

This happens to be so interesting to me! Im Ray= Enlightenment and i have a habit of proving that and making everyones day brighter even when mine isnt, I’m smiling! I have nearly every darn trait of Sagittarius. I’m 16 (DEC 10) and i tend to be loved by all authorities and even talk my way out of others trouble with pure honesty! Even cops. I put others before me! Thinking like a CEO that cares for his employees. my middle name is Nathaniel= Angel of fire i have very odd dreams of heavenly figures coming down saying, “You’r the one.” and other creepy cool stuff. Ive suffered from Giant Cell tumor but kept everyone smiling when i cried and I manage to heal very fast, dodging death twice. I fear nothing nor death it’s self! I see the good in people and i observe very very well (when im at full attention anyway) I match nearly all fire element traits and my middle name is even the angel of fire (aspiration) i see people and guide them. I lucid dream naturally and want to know how to get pro at it. I find myself always day dreaming getting lost, as if I’m not really here. People come to me for wise advise and I LOVE TO LEARN! GRADES are GREAT! I’ve been told id do great thing i used to doubt it and blush even as a kid (elementary school to 9th grade) every since the GCT tumor I feel awake, alive and realizing I can! I always thought I was a Sagittarius, but my description was always only half right. I’ve taken the time to realize I possess some Scorpio traits as well. Sure enough now I land pretty close to the middle of Ophiuchus on December 15th, so now I realize why it was all so confusing before. I doubt there are only 13 signs… There are many more constellations out there, and Cetus, the 14th sign, is the water monster on the opposite side from Ophiuchus. I wonder how many more secret signs lay outside our knowledge still. I don’t understand the heavy opposition to Ophiuchus, but now with that information that Ophiuchus is heavily envied by others, it makes perfect sense. Sorry, everybody, it was not my intention to destroy your zodiac, but it was wrong to begin with. You can’t evenly divide the sky, the magic lies with what sign was behind the sun when you were born. Hmmm this is really interesting. it makes so much sense… I’m born on the 30-th of June. I’m not such a crybaby as cancers should be. I totally feel no attachment to having a family. or to my own family. i kind of hate it, i even moved out of the country in order to gain freedom and i do not feel patriotic at all. i don’t want to get married , not do i want children anytime soon. cancers should be introverted mostly, i’m extroverted. I love to socialize, to go out, I can talk to everybody, most of the time I can’t choose between two things, it’s pretty hard to make a decision. mostly i feel like having a dual personality. i also get along very well with people who talk a lot. it’s very hard to believe that i am a cancer. i think my personality fits gemini a lot better. oh also i do not feel romantic at all.. i don’t have patience to listen to poetry and i’d rather go to a hotel straight away, rather than having a classy dinner and sex in my own bedroom ( i think i read somewhere that cancers feel more comfortable if they do it at their places). frankly i like the idea of 13 signs, plus…13 used to be a sacred number before they twisted everything with religion bullshit

Its so pathetic how you guys are complaining.
Do you really expect that your whining about how you refuse to be a certain sign to help? No.
Do some research on Ophichus and make the choice yourself. Don’t believe it? Good. Believe it? LOL.
For one, Ophichus is a constellation; astrology is based on the four seasons, not on constellations — and the seasons don’t change now, do they? They’re four seasons, each with a beginning, middle and end, which adds up to 12 zodiac signs. There is no 13th astrological sign. Period.
Also, astrologers use the Tropical zodiac, which is based on the seasons, not the signs. Anyone who seriously researches the subject would know that.
1. Astrology is Earth-centric. Not star- or Moon-centric. If the Moon’s relative position to the stars changes, that doesn’t mean the zodiac changes.
2. Western astrologers have used a Tropical or season-based zodiac for about 2,500 years. That is why time and location of birth are so important.
3. The signs of the zodiac, while represented in constellations, are not derived or aligned exclusively with constellations (although they did so coincidentally around 2000 years ago.)
This is a crazy media hype which dumb people are clearly believing; the way Ophiuchus is described is “a combination of a Scorpio & a Saggitarius”. Is that not how the Scorpio-Saggitarian cusp is like? If so, should not all cusp signs get a friggen name of their own?
It makes no sense at all.
I was a Cancer with an Aquarius moon/ascendent with a Scorpio midheaven before this hype exploded and I still am and always will be.

That was absolutely touching and true “shortee420″, well to me anyways. which me brings me to this topic title The Zodiac Sign Change. I’m a Capricorn I freaked out knowing that Sagittarius wasn’t who I fully and truly was. But with some soul searching and a bit of self discovery I realize this year I felt change was happening for me.I don’t know. After reading some of these fierce, passionate comments be it that they are positive or negative gave me the insight to say this. We are all one in the same in some way. we are changing everyday along with the universe, so what makes our Zodiacs so special? Nothing. Because all cultural astrology is true and always have been because its always been here. Again this is my belief and ultimately it’s up to you to decide what to believe about yourself. Besides I’ve been showing interest in self improvement and philosophy so I know I’m getting that Sag’Streak.

I was born March 5th so my whole life I have been a Pisces, the description fits me so well. After reading that I was possibly an Aquarius I went to do a bit of research, afterwards I discovered I am nothing like an Aquarius is described to be, so I will continue to support the 12 signs and the fact that I am Pisces, not an Aquarius.

Ok i am really creeped out over the new zodiac first off because even tho the sagittarius did mostly describe me, now the ophiuchus (which I am now having difficult in spelling it lol) ends right on my birthday apparently. I always had the feeling I was born on a cusp but never could figure it out until I learned about the 13th zodiac so this is all familiar but very bizzare at the very same time. what time of the day does Ophiuchus end and sagittarius start just so I can clarify exactly what I truly am.

My whole life I have believed I was a Libra, which fit because I’m sweet, generous, fair, and I would like to think I am charming as well. I was born October 14 ‘92, so does the 13th sign actually apply? If so, then apparently I would be a Virgo, which is not too hard to believe except for some of the traits are exact opposites of me. I’m undecided on what to think of about these new dates…

This is very interesting. My sign is Aries, yet, according to the new findings of Ophiuchus I’m a Pisces. Pisces does not fit me at all!!!! The characteristics of Aries fit me perfectly. I remain a diehard Aries! LOL!
Listen, folks, just because of the new knowledge of this new sign doesn’t mean you HAVE to go with the new dates. Nothing is written in stone. As far as I’m concerned I’m still an Aries. I’ve always been a very stubborn person and have always had my own style of thinking and doing things.

This 13th sign is all about making us more confused and discredit Astrology.
These “scientists” are always picking on spirituality and are of course happy to bash this incredible artform and wisdom as astrolgy is.
To me, i am a true Sagittarius. According to this i am Scorpio. It doesnt fit me. So i wonder who came up with these lies.
I been checking most of my friends, and i see a big difference. They are what they are. And please, all “scientists” out there, just stop spreading false info and make astrology confusing.
Its not supposed to havoc people, its supposed to help people and get them closer to self, and introspection!

i was born on dec 2, 1994. i don’t think i fit the description of the 13th Zodiac.. actually, some or even none is jealous on me. On the early zodiac, i was a Sagittarius and i fit! i am cheerful and brave.. i always love excitement and voyage… that’s me.. i don’t love bright colors. i am not even fashion conscious. But, hope others fit in this.

Well, I’m certainly not complaining - I’m very happy to be known as a Leo now. I always thought the Virgo description of me - from the distinct lack of drama to the pedantic tidiness - never suited me at all. I already have two planets in Leo on my chart, so it’s great that I’m officially a lioness!

I always perceived myself as on the cusp of Taurus and Gemini: May 21. Made sense to me, as I plod along, yet can be spontaneous. Patient, then impetuous. Feet on the ground; head in the clouds, basically. Stays focused and one track to a fault, but suddenly sees he is entangled in too many details. Very paradoxical and schizoid am I. Seems like what a combination of two rather opposite signs would impart. So that’s my sign(s), and I’m sticking with it/them.

HOOORAY!!! I am a Scorpio again!!! All my life, whenever I read a Horoscope, I was a Scorpio (Born: November 22nd), I became identified with it and it’s attributes fit me so well. I was a true died in wool Scorpion!! Then…all of a sudden, I am put under Saggitarius!! What?? I am no where near being a Saggatarius!! I was crushed! My spirits were bouyed every once in a while when depending upon the source, I was still a Scorpio, but for the past ten years or so, I didn’t even get that small crumb of satisfaction. Now, with the ‘new’ 13th sign…..I’M BAAAACK!!! YIPPEE!! That’s all I can say!!!

I think what people need to remember is that there is always going to be both posotive AND negative to all zodiac signs. Taureans can be so bullheaded and stubborn. But they are also more loyal. I keep seeing people mention the ‘bad’ part of their sign, and that they didn’t feel it applied to them. I don’t buy into the whole “13th Zodiac sign” because it’s like trying to change what has been since the dawn of man. I’m glad some are happy with it. But i will stick to the traditional zodiac.

Everyone who is already born is the Same Sign. The planets won’t shift in your birth year. Those are already set. The addittion of Ophiucus ONLY effects those born in 2011 and after. Relax everyone! Yousr still the same sign.
For those of you who “don’t match” your sign? How close were you born to the Begining or End of that Cycle? You can take on the traits of the sign before or after yours, depending on which one you were born Closest too

I love learning different ideas, especially where religion is involved. I honestly do not feel like a capricorn and never have. My birthday is Jan 5 1989. If we take a look at history the earlier religions did not take to the number thirteen to well, so maybe this is true for this religion. We can only remain open in our thinking and know a sign does not define who we are or what we make of ourselves.:)

This is absolutly outragous! I am disapointed in everything that they are saying…you can’t just say that there’s a new sign in the Zodiacs when everything hase been this way since the begining. I meen sure you all ‘think’ that this sign had been here the WHOLE time, but you can’t, honestly think that you can just jump in and change everything about Asstrology. It’s not right. First the meso-americans said that this sign would return but that it would take something like 200 years to stableize in the orbit. Secend, if you devide a solar year by 13 you get an almost excact fit to the lunar year as in 13 of them in one year. Third the lunar year fallows crop planting as well as female minstration, so it’s use was very brod in early “Man” it also coused a lot of casos when it fell behind with the presetion of the sun. The return of this sign marks the middle of the long count of 24,000 or so years. It fell somewhere around the time of the bilding of the sphinx and was problly the reason for all the astrological megaliths from stone henge to the paramids being that if one only judges time passage from the zodiac movement when one goes missing, no matter how slow, it wrenchs everyone out of the rutt of normality and makes the wise take notce. The real thing to watch is the “Dark Rift” of 12/23-25/2012 that will be a big event talked about for generations and is what the mayan calender counts from and to. Apperentally, that is the only stationary refrence point they found to count time from.

Besides the fact that Ophiuchus is the 12th sign and not the 13th as it actualy fits between the 11th & 13th ,, Which is what is happening in the night sky as the three merge like told by the Myans .. If you look at the very tip of the archers arrow you will see the center of the Universe .

It was Ophiuchus is not Imhotep but the one and only Hermes Trismegistus. The Staff of Hermes (aka Caduceus) is the original form of the Rod of Asclepius. He was called the “Thrice Greatest Hermes”, as he was worshipped as 3 different gods: Thoth (Egypt), Hermes (Greece), and Mercury (Rome). The Rod Of Asclepius was taken from the true life story of the Thrice Greatest himself to include their own cultures in the marvel of another mythology; which is proven through the fact that man creates their own gods as they feel they are needed.
Ophiuchus and Mercury are the only planets/zodiacs pre-20th century that were named by a homo sapien actually documented of walking the earth.

I look at this Asrology alot, you must know!
I too– love ASTROLOGY and study it alot.

Lol… I see so much confusion …. Your SUN SIGN … doesn’t necessarily rule your traits… You would need an astrologer to make up an astrological chart with all of your signs filled into their respective houses. Each house represents one aspect that traits deal with … that is why some people in certain Sun signs have tendencies to act like other signs or develop personalities accordingly. Here is a list of all the different types of signs you can have …

Neptune
Pluto
Astrology is the belief the the gravitational pull of the planets as well as the moon and the ascendant all determine your life’s personality. The houses which add to specific aspects that are affected by the signs attributes determine a much more rounded personality. Also, your geographic place of birth is also a factor. Some signs travel through the zodiac in hours instead of days.
As an example .. Your sun sign might be Pisces and exist in the 3rd house on the day you were born according to where on Earth you were born. You might have Scorpio as your Venus sign and it might exist in the 6th house… there are also 12 houses … Astrology is not a simple straight forward and direct theory… it has many levels of depth and only one who studies it in depth can actually tell you all of the different meanings of houses and signs and how they work with each other. I for one don’t believe in astrology any more .. but at one time in my life I was able to create astrological charts but it required having books that listed times each planet went through each sign. The books I used then covered from 1900 - 2000 … so anyone born after 2000 would need the new books that probably cover from 2000-2100.
